First things first, sorry. Im not sure if Britain is like france, so the grades are backwards. You must be in grade 10, as that is your third year of school. Also, i can guarantee that not only am I smarter than you, I am most likely more physically active than you. Also population comes into account. If we had one kid who failed in every class, that would set us back a large amount in average grade. At the moment, America has around five times the population of Britain. To clear this up, there will always be a couple kids who don't apply themselves in school, or dont try. Now if we have 5 times as many kids as you, those two or three kids will add up to a large amount.
P.S. The stereotype for Americans is fat, not redneck.

In Britain or at least where I am, it is done in years. So reception is like 4 year olds and then it goes up so like year 1 is 5 years olds and so on.
