Actually there's a 5/10 chance a bullet will penetrate the chains on a chain mail armour due to the same technique used for bullet proof vests the only reason they are used instead of chainmail is because it's lighter plus the projectile thing would do the same with arrows so don't try slipping that one because now there's no way put for u

Okay, so first of all, a bullet could easily shred through chain mail, which nobody in classic even wears, and the technique for bulletproof vests is a microscopic, complex structure designed to withstand intense stress. Not chain mail, chain mail is a bunch of metal hoops chained together. A laser could melt it. Also, I've played Classic since 2010 tyvm.
