KSG is great by itself. But why use the shield if it's harming it's performance? How often do you see a KSG user with a shield? Extremely rare. Using the shield nerfs the KSG and it's benefits aren't enough to compensate for the heavy freeze rate and terrible rate of fire.

Well, that's one of the problems. Why would a shield come with a gun and do just about nothing, other than nerfing it? But, as you could assume, the shield is cool as hell and should be cool as hell to use. I guess you could change the context: "How often do you see a KSG user with a shield?" Not often, and it's because there's no logical reason to.
