It is still the same game, right? Whether you play on an iPod or a computer, you have to hit the other person without them hitting you. The way I see it, as long as you are familiar with the device you use, you should do fine. Improvement with experience and a little bit of focus.
I saw a discussion about an advantage in guild sparring because of the larger screen. Everything has a price. The price I pay while on my computer is distraction. I often see other people walk by, talk, sparring other guild mates, running in circles or some stupid distraction that diverts my attention from my task. On my iPod, I can very clearly focus on my player and the opponent. However, I will not be able to see the distance I can on the computer.
Obviously there are both advantages and disadvantages pertaining to the device you choose to use. Why complain about it and give yourself the false satisfaction of a silly excuse? To me, it makes you weak and loses respect. Spar with what you are more comfortable with.
