How about make it like the pokewalker for pokemon? So when you are in the gym on graal, and press "start running". Then you put your ipod in your pocket and jog/run/walk with out in real life, and it shows your character on graal jogging on a never-ending sidewalk. Then once you are done, you click a button that says "finish workout".

And for ipad users just stuff it in the front of your pants and use it as a cup.
