I agree, adding quests definitely is the way forward, but I dont think that adding hearts is the right way to go. There should be a sense of direction in the game and the players should be rewarded for completing whatever is added, and I'm not talking about new animations or hats. Stuff like the boomerang, hammer, hookshot, magic, warp ring, and even a shield upgrade are all more fun rewards then having an extra heart, and I'm sure the list can and would be expanded from there.
I have faith that the current staff will be able to keep a balance with whatever they do end up adding as well, and I don't see them adding pay to win options with Classic.

A lot of the weapon-based items would be too powerful for the 3hp maximum and would need to be nerfed to the point of where they are no different to swords/bombs/arrows. The only thing that would be changed is the aesthetic, which is no different to skinning things and releasing a bomb everytime there's a new holiday. I'm not convinced that there are enough weapons to support a solid future without heart upgrades having some presence.

thats ok. its just changes that effect basic gameplay like that ruin the game. it just wouldnt be "iclassic" anymore. if people want more health and more powerful weapons, then they can play era.

Yeah! If people want hat shops and no progress what-so-ever they can play Classic and then log onto the forums and complain about how there is no progress and only hat shop updates. Keep yo gameplay Era!!

Hp quests would unbalance the game and make it unfair for new players.
I'd rather see custom weapons as a reward.
hp bonuses are better than stupid hats and morphs though.

I assume you didn't play PC Classic then, because this wasn't a problem in Graal The Adventure.
