You're all wrong...

If your gun isn't at full clip and you tap 'reload' (either glove or the gun) it will then reload your gun. You won't lose any ADDITIONAL ammo - you will only lose the ammo difference; (i.e. if your loaded ammo is at 5 and your clip is 16, you will only be charged 11 ammo (not the full 16)).
