The problem is currently horses are bugged, especially involving swords/damage. They're bugged to the point I think Stefan has to step in and patch the client some, I think.

The damage bug would make it impossible for anything fighting-related to be done with horses. It isn't fun when I ride into a place yelling "BEHOLD, THE CAVALRY!!!" and die immediately, so it would be horrible trying to competitively spar on a buggy horse.
