Everyone knows about the showlag command I assume. Well today I'm going to tell you about some simple, but effective ways to show if you lag. The showlag command does indeed give you your lag rating, but it is constantly changing making it ineffective. You guys may already use some to all of these on a regular basis. Here are some ways I check to see if I have lag:
1. Profile Check
This is a very simple way to check if you're lagging. If your profile pops up immediately when you tap on it, then your connection is working fine. If it shows the "Loading..." title at the top you may be lagging. To get accurate results click in and out of your profile a few times to see if it gives you the same outcome.
2. Guild Chat
Another simple way is just by sending a guild message. If you're on a guild tag send a quick message. If the notification at the bottom appears instantly and says your message was sent, then your connection is fine. If it takes awhile to load than you may be lagging. Just like profile checking, repeat this a few times to get accurate results.
3. Spectate
Not sure if you're lagging in spar? Have a friend with good connection watch you and your opponent spar and see if you show any lag.
4. Door Opening
Walk out a door and see if there are people or graphics that won't load or you get warped back. This will happen if you're lag is above moderate.
WARNING: There will be occasions in which everyone will lag due to a server update or some other occurrence.
