Money vs. Happiness

Well on friday we had an interesting question brought up in my English class it was... "You can be successful and insanely wealthy for the rest of your life or you can be happy and do what you enjoy, which would you choose and why?" I'm wondering what you think about this, also note that earning lots of money is not in the category of what you enjoy.

If the money made me miserable or tried to buy happiness I wouldn't want to live that kind of life. I would just choose happiness overall.

The money won't make you sad unless you make it.

Wealth also has it's risks rather it's with relationships or some other formality. I'm not saying it's bad to be wealthy, but I would rather not.

It's not about money, it's about sending a message. Everything burns...

I'm pretty happy, but broke, so I picked money. Would be interesting to see how it would be to live filthy rich.

thing with money is you will get "friends" that backstab you to get some cash. Depending on the "rich" effect of the money, you may become a celebrity and we all know how fked up they become due to poparazzi/not getting time to themselves.

I would rather just enjoy the things I have and earn what I want. If something is just givin to you, you don't appreciate it as much.
Test: on christmas when your parents buy you something fancy, keep in mind how good you feel, then later on down the road when you have a job and buy something nice of your own, compare it. You will feel more accomplished and will more than likely take care of it more simply because you earned it.

+Money is the root of all evil.

I've always wondered what it would be like to have alot of money, it actually seems kind of unappealing to me, at some point having so much money sounds like it'd get rather bothersome.

Rich and try to keep a low profile. I can get my happiness from donating to charities :D

Well, it depends on your situation. I would love to be an art teacher or something for the rest of my life, but lets face it if you have a family with children a job like that will not be very sustainable. So you have to also put in with money: the responsibility for others, that need a good environment for happiness, in your life.

I'll take the cash.
