Bow&Arrow remake

Bows in Classic need to be remade, of all things. Right now they're mainly used to spam them repetitively in crowded areas, getting several kills with an area of effect kind of capability. Not only is this frustrating to play against, but it also is very boring to do. If you try to use them to take a fort, they're just blocked by turning the direction the enemy is to block them.

Here's how they can be fixed:

cooldown
The current freeze on bows is fine, however the rate at which they can be fired is frustrating. People wake walls of arrows even faster than people can be damaged by them. This promotes unskilled play as people don't use them to pk with any effort, just making continuous barrages standing still of them intending to hit as many people as possible focused on other tasks such as entering a new location or attempting to enter a guild base such as the Mod fort.

By putting a 3 second cooldown on bows(can be adjusted) people cant get the mass pk by spamming bows and will likely stop. You can still use them properly attempting to kite for a few seconds, then fire off your bow.
This also stops people from wasting money on thousands of arrows for ruining the fun of others.

The following changes are needed to compensate for the increased cooldown.
Shield Penetration
Right now arrows can be blocked by facing the direction they are aimed at you. This pretty much defeats the intended purpose of arrows as if you attempt to fire them from long range, the enemy will just turn in that direction. It would be cool to see a way to reflect arrows that requires timing though, perhaps with a spin attack.

projectile speed
Right now arrows travel at a rate that they are incredibly easy to dodge. You need to be lucky to actually hit one when playing 1v1. Increasing the speed slightly would make them easier to hit with. Don't increase it too much, it should still be possible to dodge and see it coming.

More bows
It would also be interesting to see more types of bows. maybe make a bow that shoots multiple arrows with a spread, but move slightly slower than the current speed. Also perhaps a bow that shoots explosive arrows much like the bomb+arrow trick, but have an increased cooldown.

edit: also make them stop after hitting one person, so they dont rip through 15 people. This would end the fort pking.

It can certainly be remade. Might be a bit glitchy at first but it will be worth it.

Instead of nay saying you should just shut up and let people show support for something so something IS done about it. Saying stuff isn't going to help and that its useless to try to change it is useless in itself.

I for one agree with a freeze time being upped. And the arrows not being able to hit two people, but if anything is nerfed it should be the horse breath, that needs some sort of freeze between breaths.

Freeze time should remain the same but have a cooldown between arrows. This way you can fire run around then fire another, but you cant spam arrows.

Cool down is what I meant, the time between being able to fire arrows.

As for the speed that would require rescripting the arrows, I don't know how that would go.

It would be nice when an arrow hits someone the arrow is done, not how when an arrow hits someone it would go through the person and hit another, like a domino affect

So the arrow penetrates the target, and instead of the arrow getting lodged, it carries straight through. Why... you must think we're all super heroes with super strength on graal, but WHY CAN'T I FLY!?

Johnaudi 07-18-2012 10:58 AM

That's why I hate classic.
