What is Guild Wars 2?
Guild Wars 2 is a MMO in development by ArenaNet. Set in the fantasy world of Tyria, the game follows the re-emergence of Destiny's Edge, a disbanded guild dedicated to fighting the Elder Dragons, a Lovecraftian species that has seized control of Tyria in the time since the original Guild Wars. The game takes place in a persistent world with a story that progresses in instanced environments.

Why is Guild Wars 2 different from other MMOS?

Guild Wars 2 claims to be unique in the genre by featuring a storyline that is responsive to player actions, something which is common in single player role-playing games but rarely (if ever) seen in multiplayer ones. A dynamic event system replaces traditional questing, utilising the ripple effect to allow players to approach quests in different ways as part of a persistent world. Also of note is the combat system, which aims to be more dynamic than its predecessor by promoting synergy between professions and using the environment as a weapon, as well as reducing the complexity of the Magic-style skill system of the original game. As a sequel to Guild Wars, Guild Wars 2 will feature the same lack of subscription fees that distinguished its predecessor from other commercially developed online games of the time, though a purchase is still required to install the game.

This game includes so much amazing and unique content that i cant just post all in one thread. It sets itself off from every other MMO and i recommend all of you to try it out.
Other than that you got to agree that this game is BEAUTIFUL!

Holy crap...that looks amazing!

Don't really care for it. Combat is all about facerolling the keyboard and honestly its only good for the mass PVP. Might get it because there's no subscription but I'm not really gonna play it much :P

After playing all the beta weekends I feel like it has lived up to some of the hype. For example, all the articles about evolved questing are partly right, the quest line that random events incite is cool because your sucess or defeat effects the world. But, the tasks to complete events are just well hidden standard goals (To comeplete one heart quest you can kill spiders, cut webs or destroy egg sacs).

That said, PvP modes are very fun, the world is beautiful and the combat is very good.

tab targetting is going to kill this game.

Tell my why the game will die because it has auto targetting on some attacks.

From the looks of it every skill it auto targeted with the exception of aoe. And most new MMOS are breaking free from the 15 year old auto target system. Going to be boring spamming the 1-9 keys, its like WoW but simplified and no auto attacks. Maybe a couple dodging things but still too easy.

Uh, I think Tera is the only one that tried to break away from the target system, and from the looks of it, that game isn't doing so well. The game plays nothing like WoW either, have you even played it? If so, did you play past level 20?

only real thing the game does differently than WoW is no tanks/healer/dps. Otherwise you still press the key you want and it casts. Its no fun. Might as well play with my eyes closed.

Really? Have you really played it? Breaking away from the holy trinity of dps/tank/healer is huge itself, but it also breaks away from the whole questing system that has been the norm for the past 9 years. With your logic, I shouldn't be playing any kind of RPG since all I gotta do is press buttons and pressing buttons is no fun at all.

plenty of MMOs have broken free of the dps/tank/healer model... and plenty of them have a questing system like that...
