Do you name your Pokemon?

I was playing Pokemon Black today and some woman offered to trade my Cinccino for her Munchlax. I had never heard of either Pokemon until that point, but to make matters worse she kindly gave this new Pokemon the nickname of 'Gorge'. This reminded me that I've NEVER used nicknames for any of my Pokemon in any Pokemon game that I've played. In fact, I'd go as far as to say I hate it when I have a Pokemon with a nickname.

I've always been curious about the other side though, so do you give your Pokemon in-game nicknames? If so, why?

No, and I don't like when commentors/youtubers do it either. Makes it very hard to know(especially in this day and age with 500+ pokemon) exactly what pokemon they are...

I choose not to. I remember buying a used pokemon game when I was like 8 and all the pokemon has very inappropriate nicknames, and I got in trouble cause my mom thought I named them that lol

Rexx 06-26-2012 06:31 AM

I don't, it doesn't seem right.

Twinny 06-26-2012 06:33 AM

I do and it always seems to involve generic, **** names across all the games (and their saves) that I play. My first electric pokemon will be called, "Sparky": Thats the kind of lameness i'm talking about.

I stop doing it after the 8th time or so though.

I would sometimes give my favorites epic names, was never into making in appropriate names. I remember in ruby making my Pokemon have different names then using them in contests and getting interviewed and setting up everything just so I could record when I go on the news in game and get it to make a innuendo or something funny.

I also named some of the Pokemon i breeded to distinguish them appart. I remember having like a box filled with pichus and absols trying to get a certain breeded move.

Charizard: D***-Slap
Fearow: Mr. Fappy
Rattata: F***Face

I only name my pokemon so I can give them obscure names and laugh.

No, too much effort lol

I only named my pikachu because he's the only pokemon I took with me in most of my games.

Tyler 06-26-2012 07:42 AM

When I first played Pokemon Gold I named my Tyranitar "Hunkabib".

Well aren't you a regular Ash Ketchum.

Every time I named any of my main Pokemon, I would regret it later and have to shell out another ~5k (can't remember) to change it back about 3/4th of the way through the main story, when it's already a Lv.65 Charizard named 'Flamey' or something stupid.
