Proposal Regarding Tower System
Over the past week or so, there's been some discussion about the current tower system. There are those who feel that the system, as it is, is unbalanced and unfair, and that the design of many of the towers leaves too much room for cheapness. There are also those who feel the system is fine the way it is and are opposed to changing it.
While I appreciate the ideas of those like Bin and Bandit, the unfortunate truth is that making such a large amount of changes (espeically to the guild system) over a short period of time is going to only serve to alienate many players, which we don't want. What we want is to try and improve the current system while at the same time selling the idea to players like Twilit who are so used to what they have now. This is a community after all, and like it or not we all have a say in what changes are made in the game world.
So this is what I propose:
I think a way we could make this work is either by creating a new tower, or by modifying a current one (like Mod for example) to implement the multiple capture points idea I raised a few days ago. This way we can test out not only how a new system would work, but how players will receive it. If players like this new tower system, game staff could start pushing these changes onto the other towers as well. With this idea, we can not only improve the system but do it in such a way as to not alienate players who might not be comfortable with changing the current system.
If players like this new idea, and if we can successfully implement it to all of the towers, then congratulations, we've created a more balanced system. If people don't like the idea, then oh well, at least we tried. I'd rather say we tried than say we didn't try at all.
Of course, we'll first have to propose the idea to the game staff. We could do this by drafting up a written proposal and getting enough players to sign it. The first part should be easy, but the second might be a bit of a problem.
Any thoughts, people?
