Graal Classic Speedrunning

Hello, I would like to discuss the potential for Graal being added to list of games featured on https://www.speedrun.com/

I am particularly bringing this to the attention of the community because I am having trouble thinking of a solid (non-changing) category that you could possibly run in Graal Classic.

You cannot speedrun quests because they are subject to change and more can be added / removed in the future.

I had a similar idea to enter every tower and slash their flag once, but also as we have seen, towers are subject to change and removal.

I ask you all to suggest an idea of a non-changing category that you think might make a good speed run for Graal.

Also I am curious if anyone would be interested in this, or if nobody cares.

Thanks!

Obvious answer is to speedrun an amount of kills, spar wins, baddy kills, spar streak etc;.

Not sure for anything else, maybe like loot gotten or something. Definitely not quests or towers.

What do you think categories for kills / baddy kills would be? What is a reasonable number to speed run?

Fastest time to 100 kills/ baddies?

Fastest time to 200 kills/ baddies?

Remember this is a speedrun meant to finish in one sitting, not a multiple day thing.

100 pks would be a pretty short run, I'd say 1000 is the highest that you could reasonably expect most people to have time to do in one sitting. Issues might come up with lag outs and stuff though, which could potentially spoil the run. The problem with pk runs is that we all know what the fastest way to get kills is, and a lot of us don't want to encourage that specific style of play.

thats the beauty of categories. You could speed run the category of 100 pks towers only. or 100 kills overworld only. I think 1000 is far too long.

Categories would be good. 1000 would be too long if it was the only run, but I think it's fine if you have a shorter run and a longer one for people looking for more of a challenge. There would definitely be less people competing for it though. Once again, I don't know if lagging out mid-run would make it invalid, because that would be a problem.

well with all speed runs, the submissions would be reviewed and i suppose graal submissions would be reviewed for lag

Not likely to be acceptable? Too many variables in getting baddies... too many ways to 'cheat' pk or towering... unless there was a dungeon area you could run through (which has been suggested time and again) where there were waves of baddies in a controlled environment. Even then... the content just doesn't lend to speed running.

explain the cheating? all submissions would be reviewed for cheating and anything that did not fit the category would be denied?

Maybe 500 pks, 500 bks, 50 wins off of a noob acc

You can speedrun the tutorial too ig but i dont think thatd be fun

The game is a mess. Buggy and easy to 'glitch' or 'boost.'

Same reason you see streamers of other online multiplayer games, but not often 'speed running.'

There’s no way to speedrun graal legitimately due to lag, bugs, and other inconsistencies plus it’s an online multiplayer game with barely any proper singleplayer gameplay that isn’t affected by other players

These speedruns will mean nothing to be honest

I was under the impression "Speed running" ment "Beat the game to 100% completion" not "57 PKs and 3 spar wins"

Full offense but who even wants to see a "speedrun" of graal

t. filthy casual

I probably wouldn't actually do runs though to be honest, don't want to deal with recording gameplay.
