Leaderboard Reset Questions

tldr at bottom.
Why is the daily board reset at (PST) 2am/5am (EST)?

Why isn't it at a time when people can compete for the daily, instead of waking up to someone being #1, because that person had the opportunity to wake up hours earlier.

Maybe a 12 hour reset or a 6 hour reset? Seems a lot more competitive, and keeps the currently active players on top. Daily would obviously still exist, but at least that way, the majority of players who have school or don't wake up early, have the chance to be #1, after they finish their studies.

Mostly asking, since I get #1 a lot, and if I get some ridiculously high number early, the rest of the players don't even bother. If I get a score of 2,000 or 3,000... the top 5 stop around 500-800. "Too high, not even gonna bother today."

TL;DR
What do you think of the daily reset? Do you think it's fair to have it reset at 2am pst / 5am est? Do you think a 12 hour or a 6 hour reset would create more competition? I mean, the motivation is to be #1.

The person at #1 will log out eventually and if you play the same amount they did and can't catch up you don't deserve to be #1.

I like how you assume the quality of sparrers is consistent throughout the day.

Why would I assume otherwise? I don't see how the time the scoreboard reset is related to the quality of people online.

"#1 sparrer in the past 6 hours" sounds less exciting to me. I spar loads when I'm on but am never on enough to reach high scores, so I generally don't look at leaderboards at all. But I feel like as long as the daily scores reset every 24 hours, it should be fair for all represented time zones.

this is a good point, around 2am-10am EST sparrers are usually complete trash (yet still have good ratios because RIP sparring) and that's when all americans are hopefully sleeping, leaving the european, asian, and australian players to feast.

also a lot less players online at those times so they can quickly gather their points, meanwhile at like 6pm-10pm EST it takes forever to get a spar in.

Baddies: Midnight, and very early morning are great. Less people on, so you have the areas to yourself a lot. No lag to make baddies freeze.

Pking: Evening is good. More players online = more kills.

Sparring: Midnight, early morning are great for high streaks and easy wins. Once it's evening, lag kicks in, and the queue # is higher, takes a lot more time and a lot more effort to spar.

because most high tier sparrers are either american or to a lesser extent euro, and most from both are pretty much asleep/afk during those times.

idk about spar but in pk #1 is always gon be those who are boosting pks in the riots. shoutout 2 vient tho he be gettin tht first place lately wit clean pk. i don't think leaderboards should be changed anymore y'all did too much already by removing total pk ones

Why's the community all revolve everything around fricking sparrers, he never even stated sparring in original post this idea is for all PK/BK/Forts etc.Maybe have a reset how the 3day cycle thing was going to be for night/day system? just an idea i guess would accommodate everyone.

twilit 07-18-2016 12:36 AM

Why does Graal's day have to revolve around America?
and tbh it makes less sense to accommodate the reset to when US people are waking up rather than resetting at midnight at a chosen timezone.

another idea instead of resetting each day, the daily board could record the "past 24hrs"

Aguzo 07-18-2016 01:29 AM

Past 24 hours? How would that work?

I guess, your clock starts after your first pk/bk/win, and it resets after 24 hours. Not sure how the server would handle every single person's clock.

Or, I guess it removes everything you gained in the last hour of it's 24 hours. Again, not sure how the server would handle removing all points gained during that hour for all players.

I doubt they'd separate daily for pking , bking , towering and spar. I imagine they'd want to keep them all in sync and changing it probably would not suit towering or Pking. No matter when they do it it'll be bad for someone but the time it changes now at least gives the Americans a full day. If it was set for 10am your time people would still overtake you in the time that u are sleeping. Everyone has the same amount of time to do any activity whether you have a head start or a late finish

Teehee. Your sentence structure.

Why does this even matter if daily leaderboard doesn't really mean anything, or am I missing something
