New quest.
 
Me and 4-lom were talking about a quest for pegusus boots. We both agreed that it would be a bad addition to the game, as it would break areas.

Haha... Interesting way to describe the conversation.

I got to thinking maybe having items that were one of a kind in the game world might be interesting. Something that only one character could possess at a time...

It would sort of create a situation where they would be hunted down. To avoid the problem of people getting it and just wandering to a town area to 'hide out' there could be a time limit, a specific use, and it would have to be removed from character if you used 'unstick me' or logged out...

So, for instance, pegasus boots...?

- Get them from trading in 100 dried mushrooms to the witch in the forest (for example)
- While player possesses them, they have a speed boost (inactive in spar/towns)
- Use them not only to boost speed, but to reach a certain area you couldn't reach without them (i.e. cross a bridge that is falling apart, run fast to cross it)
- If player killed, they return TO THE WITCH and need to be 'bought' with 100 mushrooms.
- If player logs out, again, return to the witch
- After 30 minutes elapses, return to the witch
- Area reached wouldn't have to be too special... maybe a store/town or a daily similar to the bandit chests (refillable, small reward, once per day)
- Upon entering the special area, boots return to the witch?

I feel it would create a minor 'event' of sorts like the old juggernaut thing that admins would do. Players rushing the one character who had the boots in order to get them 'reset' back to the witch... or whoever had em.

Just what we need some fast guy by being chased by a bunch of players.

If he was killed in a big group the guy with it would be slain right after etc

That's why the item would warp back to the start point instead of drop on the ground. Then everyone would leave :P

Wouldnt it be repetative? With a playercount of 4000 people? And it would further fuel of the "this games just a grinder" argument

Well, there once were the white and black graals under either Tyhm or Com013, where a single player could possess either the white or the black graal. I forget what each of them did specifically. The white graal was some kind of saint thing (IIRC). The black graal was some kind of pker thing (IIRC). I'm pretty sure they were intentionally removed. It also may not have been the first instance of a white or a black graal existing.

Edit: I guess there was another reincarnation of them since my time. In that incarnation, the black graal was unlimited ammo and the white graal was unlimited healing (e.g. bypassing low AP).

And I am not aware of the 'this games just a grinder' argument?
I mean, you kinda have to either 'grind' or 'buy itunes' to make money... so in a way there's no argument?
