My ongoing and long battle with depression

For those that may know of me having this issue such as albie it won't come as a surprise that I often have bad days and I mean BAD days.

Lately its been more frequent and I can't seem to be happy at all, I've had depression for well over 8 years now and its never been this bad.

Its come to the point where I don't even know what gives me a will to live, I honestly have no clue what gives me this sense of sadness and I just want it to stop.

Has anyone got any advice? I'd really appreciate it.
(Yes I do see specialists but its not helping)

Look up baby animal videos. That helped me somehow.

You're not alone in this Bailey. You can pull through it and remember you're important to many people here and in your every day life. I've been through it too whereas you think you're in a dark void with no escape. But there is an escape and you can survive. I can advise to try these options to help cope with your behavior:

- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
- Psychodynamic Therapy
- Mood Journal (write down your thoughts)
- Visit local support groups or call a hotline
- Meditation

These are just a few examples that can help you overcome this battle with depression. I hope I have helped and if you need anything, message me here. Take care buddy

Edit: Some people do need medication to get over depression. But it is rarely used alone as a treatment; especially in young people. Get an evaluation to see what's best for you.

Clinical Depression doesn't have a cause. It just happens. It's easy to no longer feel motivated with it.

Have you considered going on a medication? I've been taking fluoxetine again and it's had a serious positive effect.

If you feel like you bottle up your emotions a lot, you could try really opening up to another friend, it definitely helps get stuff off of your chest. Also, know that a LOT of people care about you even if they don't always tell you.

Try doing more things that you enjoy, treat yourself a bit and try eating healthy and getting a good amount of sleep and exercise. These can help so so much don't underestimate what a good nights sleep can do.

You said that you don't know why you're depressed, so I think (from personal experience) that you might just be used to the sadness. Have you tried taking any medicine?

Anyways, if anything you can talk to me about anything on your mind if you're bored or just need someone to talk to :)

adding on to what Elizabeth said, making sure you have an appropriate sleep schedule and you are getting at least 30 minutes of exercise a day can be an insane help. Even my therapist can tell when I've jumped on the trampoline before going to see him.

Exercise releases endorphins which can make you feel relaxed, happy and less stressed. I would suggest maybe trying to join some type of team or just exercising with friends in general (you can do it alone too but with friends or just someone else in general it can help having someone to talk to).

I mean, you know you're loved as not even one troll has come to ruin this thread.
I've never really experienced depression, but if it's anything to do with general sadness, as many others have said - exercise helps.
Go for a run or do sum pressups

People will tell you the usual: get exercise, sleep more, etc

None of that ever worked for me. I'm not really depressed enough to need meds but in your case, you'll eventually realize that you need medication. My only suggestion is to not use more dosage than you need. Developing resistance to medication because you take too much too often is **** and is where the majority of people fail. It's why most of the helpful drugs are prescription only.

Exercising like going for a run or working out has made me a lot happier within myself looking in the mirror seeing progress I find my confidence has increased I feel a lot happier and more positive. I can approach people a lot easier and I feel more fully engaged within conversations with people I barely know or don't know at all.

Do you know what could be the root cause of your depression?

He described it as clinical so it likely has no real roots or anything, so I don't think he had some traumatic childhood event. Although usually it can be treated somewhat the same, but clinical depression is typically more difficult to live and deal with.

Smoke some of that icky icky stuff. Does the same thing as medicine, but is less dangerous. Medicine doesn't help, it just gets you stupid high to forget about it while on them.
