The big problem with anime
Warning this is one of those threads I go on about something
I can usualy get into anything im usualy not too picky with tv shows I get into stuff fast. though I cannot stand reading subtitles. Critisize me as much as you want but why do we have these subtitles Popular animes receive A Lot of money They obviously have much much more than enough to pay for translations So that their anime can be in english french and spanish, german, portugese ect. I understand for as to why they do not want to change how we read a manga but why not hire voice actors to play the translated roles in an anime. Like in pokemon The people who made sword art online or full metal alchemist are drowning in cash yet wont spend a penny to get voice actors. Also can you weaboos list some animes that actualy have an english version? |

Japan does not focus on creating English dub for their series since majority of their money comes directly from Japan. Most studios really do not bother much with foreign countries. However studios in America, namely funimation, works to dub most popular series and have recently reached out towards ongoing shows as well. Just go to the Funi site http://www.funimation.com/videos/episodes and change the language to Dubbed (idk y is it not just english instead) in the search function. Reasons to why people listen to Subbed is that 1. there is more series. 2. The way each voice is originally portrayed comparative to a English remake. 3. Japan has more pride in their VA so the quality of work is much better compared to America. |

Despite you being on my ignore list due to the fact that I think you're just a humongous troll, I'll bite on this one because of how ridiculous this is.
You know how poorly Japanese translates into English? As someone fluent in both, and someone who has seen shows in both their dubbed and subbed versions, one of the major problems in dubbed anime does not lie with the voice actors themselves, but with the lines they're forced to read since the original message has to be skewed and tortured in its translation to English to even somewhat resemble what the characters on-screen are saying. Watch any Zero scene from Code Geass. Then watch it dubbed in English. The problem isn't with the voice actors. Yeah, sure. The studios can also reanimate the show to fit a more natural English tone, but why would a Japanese-based studio go through all that trouble to please a very, very, very small minority of American viewers that prefer dubs (I'll guesstimate at 2%) - and the only viewers that prefer dubs are the ones who aren't really invested in anime at all, much less driven to the point of spending money on it. The exceptions? Pokemon, Naruto, Dragon Ball Z, and Yu-Gi-Oh. Real quick - tell me to the audience that these relatively decent dubs cater to. As such, they don't really give half of a **** about what some uninvested Americans think about their show, and as a result, quality dubs will probably never be a priority so get over it or stop watching. |
You've angered the anime community, Sardon, run.
|
Sardon, dub is ****. End of story.

I like dub because I'm lazy and can't be bothered to read subtitles.

Dub has its place for the few shows, but its rlly not worth it over sub
I enjoyed watching Bleach in dub, u should try that |
- If you cant read subtitles, youre fkn lazy and probably illiterate.
- Anime production studios really dont make a ton of money. It cost a lot of money to produce any type of TV show, and the money they make barely covers those expenses. Many anime studios only survive by selling merchandise through licensing. Others go bankrupt. - Anime studios are under no obligation to make their own English/French/etc versions of their shows. -That's why there's a such thing as fan dubs. |
