Which of these SNES RPGs has the 'best' graphics?

Sort of inspired by GOAT's thread and people believing that Air Asia had a 'more realistic' and 'better' tileset on GraalOnline Classic. Which of the following games do you believe has the best graphics? Which is the most aesthetically pleasing to you in terms of its style? I chose SNES games because they mostly have 2D visuals and have limited the selection to RPG games. There was also a heavy 'detailed' style in SNES games and I wonder if people actually find that appealing.

Obviously there are probably better screenshots of the games that I've posted. I just got them all from the same website for consistency in size. It might be better to watch a video on YouTube of the game you think looks good before voting.

They are all terrible. No one plays snes for the super sweet graphics.

Emera 08-04-2015 05:10 PM

Zelda, and by far in my opinion. Really clean style which plays to the low resolution of the SNES.

Chrono Trigger and Secrets of Mana II look the best to me.

I haven't played any of them.

Toxicturn 08-04-2015 05:18 PM

Going for Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past for these. Though secrets of mana II is an honorable mention.

Crono 08-04-2015 05:25 PM

Chrono Trigger because I grew up playing it and rely on nostalgia to justify my tastes.

Legend of zelda

Aeko 08-04-2015 06:01 PM

Secret of mana had sorta better graphics, but chrono trigger used the slightly worse graphics in much more interesting ways <3

Ditto. Had a hard time choosing between the two because I like them both for different reasons.

Earthbound is the prettiest

Secret of Mana is technically superior imo, and set a pretty high bar for graphic standards for a long time. It's still one of those games that is used as a reference for aspiring pixel artists. Not only are the tiles really nice, but the sprites and animations are amazing as well:

Another honorable mention(and somewhat unknown game) is Tales of Phantasia. Not technically pretty, but in-game everything is so fluent and appealing to look at, sadly screenshots don't do it justice, though:

Zelda is of course really appealing in its simplicity, but it's hard to overlook some really bad flaws the game had in some of its graphics. I feel like the screenshots should have shown some variation(such as Dark World, which has a better tileset I think, personally).

Zelda's similarity to Graal may have gathered it more votes than it would get outside of the Graal community. Not that there's any problem with that, but interesting to consider.
edit: probably should say Graal's similarity to Zelda, rather than the other way around

I prefer the swag style over the simplistic style. That fb classic server tile set was my favorite.
