How much attention do staff get
I have found out how much attention staff receive from players
Of course nobody will hire me :( but I have found another way By using the burger refuge server known as era. I was messing around on era with my friend and we convinced a bunch of players that I was part of the dev team and I was redoing a level or some crap like that. And the players beleived me and some even had high stats and better gear than I had. I imagined I would get a lot of attention but I received more than expected I was worshiped as a god and treated like a celebrity I even got peoples phone numbers, adress and a bunch of stuff (I did not ask for any of this information) I would just like to post for all current or retired staff How do you not turn pms off if you are being or pretending to be "admin" for more than a hour. |
The staff get lots of attention, Mostly because they do events.

I am not implying that I was their god, I am using it as a word to express what I mean by getting alot of attention |
Well for starters, you probably shouldn't impersonate staff members or pretend to be on the developer team when you aren't.
Secondly, you probably received a lot of attention because you made yourself visible and constantly told people you were a developer, most staff members don't go around saying on global chat they are staff so they wouldn't receive as much attention as you. They might get PM's on their player accounts but still not as much as you would have. |
That image is his friends so it's an obvious troll

If you ever get attention, it's probably for the same reason that the special kids in elementary school would receive attention when they were banging their heads against the table and groaning like dinosaurs
Sorry if that's insensitive, but yeeeah |

Staff members receive a lot of interactions with players, some positive, some not.
Often there will be players who just want to say hello or thank staff for their work. Others want to be friends and add the staff on their player accounts for future chat when they are off-duty. There will also be players who need help, which forms the majority of player interactions. Some players do beg for free in-game items, being dragged, or other privileges which staff are not allowed to grant. But then there are the time-wasters and troublemakers: - Some players deliberately harass staff with abusive behaviour with the intention of getting banned. After the ban, they post on the Internet about how the specific staff member is corrupt for banning them "for no reason" and tries to damage their reputation. I have been on the receiving end of this, with offenders sending mass-messages on YouTube and their radio podcasts about how they were "innocent". - There are some who don't have anything important to say, but will incessantly message staff for the sake of receiving replies from a staff member. Often they will just send "hi" every minute or so. - Others have been known to falsely report other players with the intention of getting them banned, or falsely asking staff to warp to their house claiming to find a glitch when they just wanted to take a screenshot of the staff member. - In the worst case scenario, I have had a player try to find out where I live/work by attempting to trick me into enabling location sending via Facebook, and frequently trying to contact me via every method possible such as personal phone number, 3DS chats, or even offering to physically visit. These cases are rare, but unfortunately exist. This isn't to say that being a staff member is a bad thing, it's just that troublemakers can really get in the way of a staff member's work and explains why often staff responses can be slow. Being a staff member will of course attract a lot of attention, but it isn't always in a nice way. Dealing with these incidents is something that you will have to be prepared for when you apply as staff. (From experience as staff between 2011-2013, things may be different now) |
unless you go looking for attention, its really not the case 90% of the time, especially after the kiosk was removed
and when it does happen, it gets old really fast, unless u care lol |
