What happened to sparring?

I've been away 3 weeks and I return to spar, from what I've experienced anyone 10-100 can spar decently, what happened? everyone whos at least 1000+ and decent walls or uses delay and spams their sword.

Idk man, I think everybody just cares about their stats way too much

The best thing you can do is to "get over it".

Maybe you realized what a big waste of time it is?

i think thats the issue
its why I stopped, i Used to go to the arena and spar, didnt care who i was sparring or how many times i lost to them i just tried to fo what I could and became decent, but applyingnfor a gst even if im better than the leader of a guild i am applying for they will refuse to give me a spot because im negative
I honestly dont know if anyone just spars these days or are they selectivly sparring for better stats

Thallen 04-22-2015 04:19 PM

most "skilled" sparrers have quit sparring so now new sparrers emulate the best current sparrers and almost all of the best current sparrers are boring and defensive wallers
this isn't MLG but in every game there is a meta and the meta is decided by the best players and the players around them just copy what they do and expect the same results

that's just my guess, but I don't spar enough anymore to really know - not gonna be one of those nerds who say "SPARRING IS DEAD XD" just because I don't enjoy ir right now
sometimes I feel like sparring, but I enter the room and see the queue then just observe the people sparring and conclude that it won't be fun even if I were streak 500

I doubt it will change - with Graal being a global mobile game and only having a single server based in the US, it only makes sense that delayers will represent a large portion of the playerbase
maybe Graal will grow large enough in these demographics and eventually there will be a GraalOnline Classic NA and GraalOnline Classic EU

Xor and I have tried so hard to push this and it was nearly going to happen (to the point of discussing where to physically locate the servers) but it always comes down to a concern about playercounts. It's a bit of a catch22 situation; more players = bigger opportunity to split the server = current setup results in more lag and therefore less retention. I personally think it would be fine and enable the server to better utilize localization (no point in translating if people who speak Japanese log on and can't find other players that do) and identify gaps in the market. But yeah.

I laughed at people who talks about "I don't care about stats." and in their status it reads "Goal: 1000 - 500" *facepalm*

I hope it changes.

It's mostly Philippines, which makes sense since English is an official language there. If you're looking for Koreans, 11PM (KST) seems like the time to do it:

Included Japan to show that, even though there's a large portion of the game that has been translated, it isn't doing much on its own. Also so that people know when the best time is to approach their GST recruitment - 7AM (EST).

such lies:D Graal players only care about having "fun"

Classic doesn't have losers that obsesses over stats. Who would be pathetic enough to think their stats mean anything? What are you going to tell me next? Players play to be famous?
