Documentaries
So I like documentaries. I thought I'd share some with you guys.
Left-leaning views. I'm a dirty communist hippy.[/B] If you know any documentaries that are on YouTube or a legal site to view them on please link them here. Bowling for Columbine: A documentary about gun-culture in America. Capitalism: A Love Story: A documentary about capitalism. Fahrenheit 911: A documentary about the Bush administration etc. Sicko: A documentary about the American healthcare system. Outfoxed: Rupert Murdoch's War on Journalism: A documentary about Fox News. Inequality for All: A documentary about wealth. Internet's Own Boy: A documentary about Aaron Swartz (computer programmer who killed himself because of legal pressures over 'digital crime'). The God Who Wasn't There: A documentary about Jesus. The One Percent: A documentary about wealth. Terry Pratchett: Choosing to Die: A documentary about Terry Pratchett & alzheimers (particularly poignant considering he recently passed away). |
I watched a documentary last night, the title was a parody of gold rush. But basically it was about marijuana in Colorado, and how the typical stereotype of stoners is changing into actually sophisticated people and not mindless idiots.
It also underlined the point that in Colorado alone taxes from marijuana come out to be a hundred million dollars, and think about how much they spend on the drug wars for only weed, and how much they could potentially save/make. |

I thought the HBO documentary on scientology was pretty well done. a lot of ex-higher ups as well as lower people from the SEA org have come forth to speak out in recent years so there is a ton of material. It's called "Going Clear".
|
American Sniper is an apparent documentary, but it's just basically propaganda about the greatness of the American military.

Edit: When I say lunatics I mean the power abusers and high-ups, not the low tier members who are being taken advantage of. |

I thought this documentary on Abraham Lincoln was really eye opening.
|
The Jinx documentary by HBO was interesting, it ends with a man who was thought to be innocent making a live murder confession.

What I really hope about this... I just hope regular guns will not be banned. We need to be able to keep our rifles, semi carbines, shotguns, handguns, ect Untraceable guns is just scary to think about. Sounds violent. |
Just goes to show that the world is a changin' and governments better keep up with everything or things will get out of hand.
I'm glad the guy decided not to go into mass production with those recievers. The fact that he tested the boundaries of the government is good enough and there is no need to go overboard with the project and cause mass anarchy. |
I saw this one a while back and it's pretty good. Crazy how the rich can buy the government.

Bet documentary ever to reach the face of TV...
180 Degrees South 180° South is the story of Jeff Johnson(photog/founder of Patagonia) and his 2008 journey from Ventura, California to Patagonia in the eventual goal of climbing the peak Corcovado. Jeff's trip takes place ten years after he watched Yvon Chouinard and Doug Tompkins' film 'Mountain of Storm' which depicted their 1968 trip to Patagonia. 180° South is the story of Jeff Johnson's journey, the ups and downs, and the parallel story of the 1968 trip. The film features terrific dialogue from Yvon Chouinard and Doug Tompkins as anecdotes to the trips. Ventura, California REPRESENT! |
I like the documentrys of the iraq or afghanistan war. Those are always interesting.
