Player run Guild spar Tournament.

Hey,
I was thinking about making a player run tournament where we used a website to host a tournament bracket. Guild leaders would enter their guilds with an entry fee of 5-10 dollars deposited into a Paypal account. It could be a single loss elimination or a two loss elimination style tournament. 1st and 2nd place teams win a percentage of the money pot. We designate 'refs' (neutral players) to watch matches to make sure everything is fair and goes smoothly. Think this might be a fun way to make guild spar more competitive and give us something to do during the off season. A cash prize is always nicer than a pixeled hat in my opinion.

If the winning team only gets a percentage of the pot, then this just looks like you trying to develop a get-rich quick scheme on your behalf.

No one would do it because they know there is a high chance certain guilds will just win this as well.

A percentage of the winnings like 1st place gets 75% of the pot and 2nd gets 25% moron. Also I don't think I would run the paypal. I'd like a vote between guild leaders on who is most trusting to deal with the money side and have 'refs' manage the bracket.

I would trust thallen with $5 and him and I don't get along.

No ones going to pay, who honestly would?

I would pay, but their should be a thing where if you win the current tournament 1st, 2nd, 3rd; then you're not allowed to participate in the following tourny. No noob accs, no hacking, nothin to give anyone an unfair advantage; if a player has an obviously large amount of delay or lag then they would be given back their money and dq'ed.

How would you prevent the nub accs? IP detecting wouldn't work so don't even suggest it. An hour requirement?

It's 5 bucks a team..7 people in tourney, 5/7= about 71 cents a person. If you're not willing to part with 71 cents for a fun tournamnet you don't have to participate. I would only assume top talent would go for this. Distorted and Colin you're not competitive players so something like this should be ignored.

Colin 11-23-2014 05:27 PM

I am competitive and now that you cleared up the price thing I'll be glad to participate.

Actually I used to be a pretty competitive sparrer. I used to have like 100-500 stats, then I ended up with like 2000-1900.

It's a pretty good idea, just not for graal I think. These things are great for LAN style tournaments, MLG and all that stuff. The only player I would trust with almost a free month of netflix, hulu plus, or spotify would be thallen. Other than him, I would rather have Unixmad do something like this in-game. Where you enter your credit card through the game. It's safer and more legal I think. If something goes wrong, I wouldn't want to be the one involved in the scheme of making a 12-15 year old graalian go and steal their mom's credit card, and make them pay $5 just so they can lose it.

Also if admins had a problem with the money thing then, it could be a gralat pay in, and the reward could be anywhere from a hat to a mount, a specialized gh, furniture, anything.

Double elimination or losers bracket would make the results more legitimate. It would be nice if we could keep it to the more serious players as well, rather than have random guilds sandbag during the whole tournament.

It's not safe at all to give your credit card to Graal:

Serious guilds and serious players would make everything run smoothly.

Jagger mamba (essence)
Thallen (alumni)
ethereal (SNC)
prime (WAR)

Just a few leaders that I'd like involved.

At what point will anyone give their credit card info to graal? And wtf is this scheme ****? Honestly the biggest risk you're running is losing 5 dollars! If someone wants to snake away with 30 bucks I don't think it will be a big hit on anyone's pocket books. Like i said, it would be a Leadership vote on who to trust and if they screw us over and steal our 5 dollars then we don't do it anymore! risk and reward in this is very minor.
