Farming nerfed?

So i logged in to farm my tomatos and they lowered the price to 2$ People are raging saying that "if you don't buff the farming I'll leave" so i made this thread to see what you think about this. Personally I think it was fine how it was but now farming is trash.

Distorted 11-21-2014 06:44 PM

They really shouldn't have nerfed it IMO. I don't farm, but if I was a player who had a farm and they nerfed it I'd be pretty mad. Up to the players now if they want to quit over it haha.

To be honest, Why release farming when the prices are not fixed yet.

Xenice 11-21-2014 07:07 PM

People were making a LOT of money. Due to the previous prices, people were easily making money - and it ruined the purpose of the other jobs. This is how I can understand why the prices were reduced - but now everyone is threatening to quit, rate the game 1 star and talk a lot of nonsense.

I'm fine with the price reduction - farming is meant to be one of the ways in which a player can make money. The prices are still giving me decent amount of gralats. But it will be hard to deal with the 8 year olds who were used to high prices, and big moneh.

Because you can't truly "fix" pricing until you actually see how things play out with an actual playerbase. Big companies like Blizzard can afford to hire people who specialize in economies and maths and such and can probably predict pretty reliably how jobs will play out with a playerbase... we can't. The best we can do is release, monitor, and tweak until it matches what we actually intended for it.

It needs to be fixed, I have about 20 farms I planted watermelons which take hella long time, made 800$ like wtf.

iMask 11-21-2014 07:39 PM

I do agree it shouldn't have been nerfed. You're making very to little profit on farming. I'll do the calculations later to see how much profit you make.

Blueberry

Time: 10 minutes
Cost of seed: $25
Profit: $4
Profit per hour: $24

Onion

Time: 3 hours
Cost of seed: $25
Profit: $15
Profit per hour: $5

Jalapeno

Time: 1 hour
Cost of seed: $32
Profit: $8
Profit per hour: $8

Corn

Time: 4 hours
Cost of seed: $30
Profit: $14
Profit per hour: $3.5

Raspberry

Time: 5 hours
Cost of seed: $25
Profit: $17
Profit per hour: $3.4

Carrot

Time: 15 minutes
Cost of seed: $20
Profit: $4
Profit per hour: $16

Pumpkin

Time: 2 hours
Cost of seed: $30
Profit: $10
Profit per hour: $5

Rice

Time: 1 hour
Cost of seed: $25
Profit: $7
Profit per hour: $7

Wheat

Time: 30 minutes
Cost of seed: $15
Profit: $5

Strawberry

Time: 30 minutes
Cost of seed: $20
Profit: $5
Profit per hour: $10

Tomato

Watermelon

Profit: $16
Profit per hour: ~$2.67

Well obviously farming would get nerfed. I dont understand how people get mad at it. If the best current weapon costs 3k whats the logic in making players able to make 100k in 2 days by farming? And no, I'm not exaggerating, I literally know people who have 100 gardens and make money fast as hell

Brick 11-21-2014 07:51 PM

I think it was smart on their part. Blueberries seem to give you the most money, and take hardly any time at all to grow. So if you want to make money from farming you will have to stay online to pick and regrow your blueberries

They could put a max number of farms at like 20, and you can't have 100, they won't fit.

Clown 11-21-2014 08:07 PM

I understand why they done this, but you must consider the amount of time it takes actually planting/collecting these plants in the process. It is still a job, and the people making a lot of money tend to have a lot of gardens which means a lot more tedious work. Making these crops sell for this minimal value though? It's just discouraging.

Like imasks chart said with blueberries for example, 24$ an hour my ass.

Most of those are considerably less as the times are all wrong, for example plants that take 3 hours to grow take 5 hours.

Which is even WORSE for the profit per hour portion of my stats.

It's less than thate, the times in the descriptions must be wrong because when using real clocks blueberries are closer to 15-20 minutes than 10. And my watermelons have been growing for almost 7 and a half hours (1 hour longer than it's suppose to) and it is only just past halfway. And waiting roughly 8-9 hours just to make a $16 profit is pretty ridiculous

IMO prices shouldn't have been changed just the times, I can make 100 gralats minimum in 15minutes of collecting plants compared to the $3 profit per crop every 15-20 minutes blueberries give. Even with 20 crops it will take you 40 minutes to make even half the amount I can make getting plants or mining
