It is being investigated by Unix and Stefan.

Dusty 08-04-2014 11:52 PM

He says he can move, and thus it's a latency issue.

Please visit: http://www.speedtest.net/
and: http://www.pingtest.net/

And post your results.

i thought the bug was affecting the people freezing and that was what the ownership was looking into.

I use my iphone, I tried this on my computer and my results were slow, Thanks.

The "freezing issue" is when the client literally freezes and experiences a sudden halt, or massive framerate drop. This means ALL processing stops while this goes on, so you wouldn't be able to move, animations stop and all input does not work. The entire app is basically frozen for a sudden short burst of time.

When you experience latency(or connection lag) the client itself is still functioning perfectly fine. That means while other players may not be moving, they are still animated, since animations are handled on your end by the app(clientside). You can still move as a player as well, since again, your movement is handled on the clientside end.

The fact that he said he could still move was a dead give-away that it was a connection issue and not a framerate issue.

I can interpret this as: I have recently been experiencing the "freezing issue"(framerate drop). I can't move, and no one else moves. Whereas before he was having a connection issue, where he could move but other players were freezing.

So simply put, he was experiencing two completely different issues that aren't related.

sounds like he's freezing.

I have the same issue, everything freezes on my side, but other players continue to move. I know this because ive ran at .5 and had one of these freezes get me which allowed the players chasing me to get the kill(as soon as the freeze is over im going directly into the death frame).

there lies the disagreement. My interpretation of his post is that his current problem is him freezing and everybody else on the server was able to move. The other part he added use to which let me to believe it was past tense as not happening anymore.

That's not the freeze bug though. The freeze bug causes the whole client to freeze for a few seconds. If anything on the screen is moving, it's a lag issue of some kind.

Unless you mean other players continue to move, but you don't see it. Is that what you're talking about? Obviously everyone else continues to move and attack and everything while this freeze occurs; as it's your client that's freezing, not the whole server. If this is what the OP meant, it was very poor phrasing. But I'm starting to think it might be the case..

ya thats what happens on my device. Everything freezes on my side(my screen), but players are still moving around based on the chasing example I used.

I thought this was the bug addressed on the other thread that I quoted.

Xenthic 08-05-2014 02:41 PM

How's Stefan and Unixmads investigation? lmao

It is, but you just didn't explain it well. You (and the OP) made it sound like only your character freezes in place while everything else on the screen continues to move on your device. When in fact your whole client freezes for a few seconds, and upon unfreezing, everything "jumps" ahead because the freeze is client-side and it's only affecting you (at that particular time, anyway). That's what caused this miscommunication.

Yes this is the freeze but that Is affecting a lot of people (and is annoying as all hell), that Dusty said was being investigated.

This is the screen freezing issue:

another thread where people can't understand the difference between poor framerate and latency issues
this is why sparring will forever be a "U LAG" activity

You need to keep in mind that most players on this game are young kids that have no idea about networking or computer science. Distinguishing the difference between delay and a poor framerate is really irrelevant because most sparrers will complain about both.
