Too many servers being released

At the moment I feel as if too many iOS servers are being released and that could potentially be a bad thing. Zone has not been out more than two years nor their player count has even exceed 500 and Delteria was soon released on FB. I know they're planning iOS very soon, not sure when. And now seeing Graal Ol' West on the sub-forum, so I am assuming it's in progress and will be released soon as well. Don't you guys think Stefan or whoever decide the release is rushing a bit? Well look at Delteria, it was worked on for how many years? I don't know but quite along time and there are still minor flaws here and there. I honestly think, all iOS servers should be perfected or at least somewhere near there before choosing to release the game rather than releasing it and developing on the way. Although that is not a bad idea, but updates tends to be long and players get bored, goes back to their original server and never hop back on again. Let me know what you guys think, leave a comment down below.

I disagree.

Barely any servers have been released. An Ol' West forums appearing on Graalians has no relation to it actually being released.

The servers are also developed by completely separate dev teams, thus waiting for other servers to 'polish more' would be silly. Separate servers do not affect the quality on other servers.

I actually wish there were more servers released, but know the realities of development on Graal.

Very few developers actually polish and "perfect" their content before releasing it.

depends on what your definition of rushing is. Delteria took over 3 years for ios release, ol west has been on the works for over 2 years getting ready for ios release, and zone took over 2 years to get released. With that amount of time I would say it has to do more with the developers. Not everyone can be like the almighty Thor from pc classic.

Zone was on the sub-forum a few months before release so was Delteria. What makes you think Ol West is any different?

Also try and read my post more carefully next time. I never said developers should wait for others server to get polished or perfected before releasing their own. What I said was they need to perfect and polish their server before they decide to release it with major/minor flaws, and hardly any updates nor contents.

You know, I'm not defending Delteria or anything, but I want to speak on why you experience this (especially in this game).

The "Version 1 Sucks, but ship it anyway" model is a reliable model in this game simply due to the fact that releasing on a potentially large scale (iOS @ 2000+ Players at a time), is BAD because controlling the misuse of systems, glitches, bugs, etc, is harder to track and patch. In contrast, testing with a smaller sample (think 100-200+ at a time) is easier to track, however, releasing on a platform that already lacks a lot of features that iOS and the PC Client have isn't exactly a good thing either.

If you've played a game (such as Zone, or Delteria), and received vanilla content, it is because it is easier to slowly dev in an ACTIVE and EVOLVING environment on a smaller scale before launching and releasing to a much larger, harder to track and control, scale.

Either way, think of it as a public, controlled beta. In short, this sums it up:

To do list:
Make Graal feel like a real game.

Rexx 04-12-2014 07:41 PM

All the iServers and Graal in general sucks due to poor overhead management and zero quality control.

I agree with Dragun.

But I will say that Zone was a pretty well done game when it was released on iOS.

Cudislagne 04-12-2014 10:29 PM

Delteria was a huge flop.

It didn't have spar, didn't have a quality basing system, very few weapons...

OK...
I for one dislike gun spar.
I had a cheap wep that was amazing.
Basing? lol
And I do think Zone had FFA Deathmatch from release, or it was released thereafter, because that's all I remember doing, and still have fun doing that whenever I log on.

Of course it's all based on opinion. However, Zone was a dream game for me from release. There were few ignorant players, staff was shaky from the start, but when Tash took over everything gradually got better.

DraGun 04-13-2014 03:21 AM

Was could had use a bit more time in development. But I am happy that it was released. Tashkin jumped in near the half year mark and everything improved and stuff progress little by little. Delteria on the other hand, I am not sure. I mean it's a real great game and I really enjoyed playing it for the first few days. But after a while there was really nothing to do except socialize or re-do dungeons over and over. Anyway, this thread is to show Stefan or whoever it is should relax on the iOS releases.

Ryan 04-13-2014 05:22 AM

I kind of agree, zone needed to be focused on more before delteria came out, and now Ol'West is in iOS development and it could end up like delteria
