How does one go about applying for a scripting team position on classic?

You're hired. View your inbox for information on how to spend all your time helping the server with no pay.

I believe that there is no official application or anything due to it's a rare position. I would go about contacting someone like fp4 or xor, they will probably give you an email address.

No pay? Oh boy!

Just kidding. That's okay. I've been working on Graal for years with no pay. Why, for about 13 years or so now to be precise! All of that GS1 experience made it easy to learn GS2, though, and all of that GS2 experience makes it easy to get hired, or so I'd hope.

I am one of the best scripters left on PC Graal. Of course, that means I know that FP4 is not one to respond to people randomly contacting him. I tried emailing Xor, but to no avail. Who checks email these days?

There is no official NAT application, or no scripting admin or anything like that to contact?

oooh wow you sound good. anyways im sure if you were to provide fp4 an application of your own just showcasing some of your work and backround I am sure you will at least a response. But heck what do I know, I can just barely pass as a graphic artist. :)

I've seen you post scripting help for people on the old graal forums, too, guy. I've thought about doing that as well, but every time I tried signing up an account over there, I couldn't.

It just seems so complicated. You gotta sign up with your account and an email, but that's not the account necessarily aligned with the email in the game. Then if you forget your pass, the system just tells you that it's the same as your in-game password. But when I try putting in my in-game password, it doesn't work. I swore off the graal forums so long ago.

Yeah, you aren't missing anything with the official forums, outside of the scripting section they are pretty much completely dead. And agreed with the name thing, very nice not to be Starfire2001 on here.

The scripting team position is invite-only.

Also I don't do any hiring of any kind, I really only get involved when there's a project or bugs that need addressing. If there's a need for another NAT you'll be kept in mind.

I would recommend getting experience on iEra or iZone, they're way easier to get hired on and probably have projects or something they want a NAT for.

What kind of experience? I can do literally everything GS2 is capable of already.

Is iClassic truly so overstaffed that they cannot use another scripter, regardless of how skilled they are? I find that really surprising. On UN, I only wish we had some sort of excess of scripter applicants to turn down!

I really mainly like Classic-feel servers (UN, GTA, etc), it's what gets me nostalgic. But I suppose if you aren't hiring, very well. I will be around on UN/forums or so if you reconsider.

Trust me bro they are more desperate than they seem.
They may not hire any random passerby, they just need a good reason to trust you with the job i guess.

That is a shame, then. I Managed UN for like a year when its playercount was over 320 (to your iClassic people that might not sound like much, but PC graal nowadays hovers around 40-80 players daily) and have been Admin/Manager many times since then, and my scripting knowledge is immense in every aspect of the language.

I would even posit that -- that Ph8 guy you see in this thread -- UN runs by vast majority on the work that he and I put into it.

If they truly are in need of scripters here, I am most assuredly an asset. I will hope for reconsideration.

The only problem I had with you on UN was that you deleted a lot of things, due to being whatever it was being mostly inactive. That's not a big deal but I don't recall being warned about a bunch of content being deleted (im talking about your most recent stint at being manager which was summer of 2012, I, believe). Also UN hasn't had 340 players for honestly 8-9 years now, maybe longer.

Yes a lot of people disliked that. I won't attempt to justify it here on these forums (I could to you sometime if you wanted), but trust me.. UN needed (still needs) to be cleaned a lot. It's an old server.

And yeah, 320 players was when I was Manager in 2005-2006. I followed NeoJenova (who hired me)/Rage, and was succeeded by WiKKiD/Spryte.

nope. it always floated around 200 at its peak before V5 came out but def not 320 on the norm.
