Disney shuts Dow 3 of their remaining 4 MMORPGS

Do you remember Toontown, Pixie Hollow, or Disney Pirates?

They were shut down today.

Disney says they are looking towards more of a mobile aspect. This really saddens me since I played ToonTown when I was young.

Well it makes sense from a business standpoint.
There's way more young children on mobile devices these days than there are playing computer games.

just a sign of the times

Maybe this is just me, but Disney seems to have been on a losing streak lately. Planes and The Lone Ranger didn't get such hot reviews and their Disney Infinity game based solely on money buying figures and the starter pack. By mobile devices do they mean apps for phones or portable systems like the PSP?

Nooo Ive actually been wanting to check on pirates. I played it like 4-5 years ago and it was pretty cool. Doubt the new mobile games r Gunna be nearly as good. All their games are ***.

Mobile phones. Apps. Microtransactions.

Aw, ToonTown was awesome; fishing was one of my favorite things to do on there. But oh well. It's too bad they had to close it, but understandable

I used to play toontown too...I'm actually surprised that most of you did too :O

I remember toontown! I still have it on my old computer, sucks that they shut it down. I like to play some of the games I played when I was younger.

I don't think anyone would think that "Planes" would be a hit. Besides, reviews don't matter. Planes is a terrible movie, but I'm looking now and it's already made $105 million. That talks more than a bunch of people going "ah yes, Planes; while the bloated script and terrible voice acting provided little amusement, the humour still retains the qualities that most young children enjoy".

I think apps for phones, but they're coming more of the same thing anyway.

Sorry I didn't mean money wise. I meant as far as quality and decisions go. Their TV shows aren't exactly top quality nowadays either from what I remember. I miss their old cartoons with Mickey and the other loveable Disney characters. When I had cable a couple years ago, all they had was real people shows with very mediocre scripts. The only cartoon that was ever played was Phineas and Ferb. I love Disney, but I just haven't seen anything too spectacular for awhile.

Well if they're planning to appeal to mobile devices maybe toontown, pirates or pixie hollow will become mobilized on devices like iOS, android, etc.

Yes, definitely. They should also add those packs where you can spend $9.99 for 100,000 coins and $1.99 to unlock special guns you can't earn in-game.
