American Discrimination or Stereotype?
 

I was down at the beach today, and in real life I have somewhat of a Russian accent, not much but some. A guy must of heard me talking to one of my friends and shouted at me, "GO BACK HOME RUSKI (If that's how you spell it), Before you and your friends blow us all up!" A couple of others also said something like this before, but I decided to ignore it and thought it was just some guy trying to make me mad. After the last one to say it to me said it, I started to ponder about it.
I'm down in the south right now, and have always lived near the north. Is the American South always like this? Is there a new stereotype for Russians? I'm very confused and just wanted to hear some opinions.

Everyone loves fpsrussia on YouTube. The only stereotype I know against Russians is the drinking a lot of vodka thing. Don't cluster the whole country because of some people though. I think Russian accents are pretty cool.

It's just the idea of discriminating against me, when I don't even really have the accent. Like I said, I have one but not thick like my dad. I've also seen people make fun of others, such as people that speak Spanish down here.

I'm pretty sure the southern US is more known for its discrimination and stereotyping than other parts of the country. It tends to vary from place to place though, since where I live (south FL) seems pretty decent in regards to discriminatory behavior.

I might actually be stereotyping the stereotyping of others though. I dunno.

In the south it's just more blatent. Tbh the northeast is just as racist but they express it in a different way.

But seriously, I kinda have to agree with Psycher. Racism and stereotypical profiling exists everywhere. The southern US itself is stereotyped to be outstandingly racist, which is actually pretty true. When it comes down to ethnic discrimination, the southern US is notoriously renowned for racism, even today. I mean, just look at this:

It was probably due to the Boston bombing committed by russians. (Not to be offensive) Also Southern folk do have tendencies to be racist. But seriously, who would do such a mean thing like that. It really is an evil society we live in. If someone said that to me just cuz i had a little accent, i would have told security or someone of authority. People used to make fun of me cuz i had a little bit of trouble saying turtle, little etc. I don't do it anymore but it was really bad when people made fun of me for doing it.
