How-To: Play Graal w/ Xbox 360 controller

Welcome!
So if you're reading this you must be interested in how to use your Xbox 360 controller to play Graal =]

if you're reading this and you prefer PS3 over Xbox then I'm sure if you can connect your controller successfully then you could use this same method

Before we even begin make sure you have the following...
Things you'll need
  • Xbox 360 wired controller
    -or-
  • Xbox 360 wireless controller w/ pc adapater (will explain later)
  • Windows XP or higher
  • Facebook w/ Graal App
  • VIP Graal account (if you're wanting to play on the iPhone server)
  • patience

Wired Controller
Spoiler

Firstly, if you have a wired controller which means the wire is physically integrated into your controller and you cant take it out. Hook it up to your computer via USB port.
Wait a few seconds..if you're computer does not automatically download the drivers for your controller go here:
http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/en...er-for-windows
and download/install the driver for the version of windows you are using.

Wireless Controller
Spoiler

you will need to buy the pc adapter accessory in order to hook youre controller to you're computer.
If you can't buy it online then I'm sure Best Buy or GameStop still carry them. I've seen them pulled off the shelves at the superstores like Walmart, Target etc. seeing as they're a bit of a rip off.
The Plug n Play cord will not work with youre PC.
It doesnt transfer data it only charges power.
If your computer doesnt automatically download the drivers once your controller is connected go here:
http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/en...er-for-windows
Download and run/install the drivers for whichever version of windows youre on. If you also need help using you're pc adapter then view the Quick Start PDF on the same page.

if you dont know what bit or version of Windows you are on go to My Computer>System Properties and you'll find it there

Okay
So by now you should have you're controller fully connected to you're PC with the apropriate drivers installed. You should be able to see you're controller as a "Connected Device" in Control Panel>Devices & Printers or something similar to that in the Control Panel.

Now go here: http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/.../Xpadder.shtml
Download the (US) version, save it on your Desktop.
It must be you're desktop or somewhere you will have easy access because Xpadder is an application and not a program you will have to install to use.
Once it's downloaded unzip it (right click) extract it to youre Desktop

Open the folder, click on Xpadder and Run it.

Spoiler
When you try to open it and you're getting incompatibility errors do this: Right Click on Xpadder>Properties>Compatibility

http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/l...eczzz/prop.png
if its still not working try using different modes as seen in the picture

Soooo
now you Run Xpadder.
On first start up you'll get some pop ups just do
Start>Program Location>Do not associate

Make sure you're controller is turned on and plugged into your computer
now you'll be at the main menu

Quote:

IF you see this
then click that, if you're controller isnt showing up then you did not install it correctly

If you see this then proceed =]

I can imagine the above steps will probably be the most troublesome, just be patient and you'll get it right =]

now for the easy part

Start a New layout.
Image Tab>Open>and select the controller image
image link:http://www.4shared.com/photo/EXu5Xl5...onathanUK.html
Download it
Do not Right click save as because it will change the filetype

Make sure your controller is connected to your PC and recognized by Xpadder before proceeding with this video =]

available in 720p and 1080p

I hope this guide wasn't too hard to follow >.<

If you have any questions, need help, notice a mistake, have something to add, then post here =]

Alternatively you could buy a $5 PS2 -> USB controller, hook it up, and be on your merry way with no driver bull****, and a much better Dpad.

It is dumb that v6 removed gamepad support. Horrible, horrible move on Stefan's part.

hmm but most people dont have ps2 usb adapters lying around nor do stores still carry ps2 accessories. But yeah it would work all the same. Installing the drivers really should not be a hassle even for a non-tech savvy person.

I've gotten use to sparring with the analog stick though...last night I went about 65-15, given there wasnt many good people on at the time I still did better than I usually do on my iPod.
Not saying it gives an advantage but practicing definitely helps =]

You can buy them online for $5. An amazing investment(supports two controllers), even though I have two wired 360 controllers.
