Good texture packs?

Does any one know of any good texture packs that don't look super different but still don't look too similar to the vanilla textures? Ive been looking for a while but I can't find anything that suits my tastes.

If you really want to help a pack out when you share them, you should link to them :)

Derivation is looking quite awesome in my opinion. Amazing HUDs and such: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/...ation-rpg-v51/

Wayuki's of course is a must-try, especially if you only like default resolution. She exploits higher-resolution for mobs and skins though. Worth it, her mob skinning is the best in Minecraft: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/...00k-downloads/

I'd also recommend Eld's, except ever since he got hired by Mojang he hasn't really updated his pack :( However if you check out his thread you might have found some people posting fan-updates: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/...25-compatible/

Sphax is the only custom texture pack I've felt comfortable with. I just don't like having to update everything everytime there's a Minecraft update. They should add some kind of auto update process for textures.

The next Minecraft update(1.5) is featuring some heavy Texture Pack related stuff. High-res support, animated textures and entirely reorganizing how textures are loaded and such. That may feature may be something eventually added at this rate.

Yeah, apparently each texture will be stored as an individual image instead of all of them on one gigantic sprite sheet, so you won't have to worry about purple images popping up everywhere when your texture pack is missing a texture. Sort of like how mobs work now.

Ya, the downside is that it's broken up into single tiles, despite the objects size. For example doors will be two separate images, and objects like beds will be a whopping 6 individual images(at least from what I've heard). This will make larger objects consisting of many tiles a pain in the ass to work with.

Here is a link to an unofficial (but approved) continuation of Eldpack, which I also love ;3

I'm a modern builder so i tend to go with the two most commonly used packs for my style of building. They still look beautiful otherwise, though

Misa's Realistic (64x)
In my opinion it isn't too much of a realistic pack, but the textures look amazing nonetheless, definitely my most used pack.
Also supports random mobs and random textures :D

Soartex Fanver (64x)
My second most used pack, textures look very clean. I'd recommend this if you are a fan of Sphax or any of those other cartoony kind of packs.

A lot of blocks, actually. Hopefully before 1.5 is released Dinnerbone reconsiders and lumps a few things into a single image to make it easier(like the chest).
