Ranks, Rights and Sanctions (1.8)

The organization of the community, at current, has been pretty poor. In an attempt to reduce this (and by doing so, hopefully raise the quality of our users) we have decided to implement a rights and ranks system on the server. This system will not be intrusive, but rather open up a few additional features for specific groups. Members will advance in rank through recognized activity and contributions to the server, and as you will see below, additional rights will follow this. The following is an outline on how things will work.
  • Guests

Guest users are generally naughty members of the community who we feel have room for improvement. Essentially, these guys are griefers who are being given a chance to reform instead of being outright banned. Such users are represented with a gray nickname in the chat. Guest users are very limited in that they can only explore and chat to the community. If you become a "Guest User" you will be able to appeal against this status through a private message to PiX on the forums. You're only going to get one shot though, so if you screw up again you won't have access to the server anymore.

  • Settlers

What we refer to as a "settler" would be a new member of the community who is just beginning their adventure on the server. Such users are represented with a yellow nickname in the chat. While they are able to chat, build and use tools freely, settlers are restricted to the following chat commands:

    • /msg [user] [message] - Sends a private message to the user of choice.
    • /r [message] - Sends a private message to the last member who messaged you.
    • /warp - Lists the locations that the user can warp to.
    • /warp [location] - Warps the user to the location that they have specified.
    • /spawn - Takes the user to the server spawn point.

  • Citizens

"Citizens" of the Graalians Minecraft server are active members of the community who we feel have had a positive contribution to the server. Such users are represented with a green nickname in the chat. Citizens are able to do everything that a settler can do, but they are allowed to use water buckets and are equipped with additional commands to enhance their experience:

    • /home - Allows the user to warp to their home point.
    • /sethome - Allows the user to set a home point for themselves.
    • /nick [nickname] - Enables the user to use a different nickname when using the chat feature.
    • /tpa [user] - Sends a request for the user to teleport to you.
    • /tpahere [user] - Sends a request asking the user if you can be teleported to them.

  • Veterans

Members of the community who have proven to be trustworthy and who we feel have had a great contribution to the server will receive a "veteran" rank. Such users are represented with a blue nickname in the chat. Veterans are proactive in assisting the community, and because of this, are trusted with the ability to use both fire and lava in addition to the above commands.

Nice :)

Nice work, is the rank chosen for you or do you apply for a rank? Also, when will the server be back online?

The rank is chosen by the operators, and the server is back online now.

I like this idea great works guys

uh nice, but maybe settlers should get sethome and nick (it tends to be more usefull to other players than it is to them XD) but not the warp? that way the platform can be safe from new players that could be griefers.

as for veterans i understand the lava, but i think citizens should be able to use fire too (unless said veterans want to light every netherack and portal for players XD)

but maybe veterans should be able to use the log thing where they place dirt and it tells the log and stuff so veterans can find out who is griefing, so ops dont get spammed by griefed players when they come on XD

Higbey, settlers cannot place or remove blocks.

They can, guests cannot.

im already a citizen, im curious as to how to go about earning the veteran rank tho, can you get it just by continuing to help people and follow the rules?

The fire thing for non-vet confused me till I remembered you two trying to kill each other constantly for the past 2 days with lighters... I wouldn't mind the ability to check block logs, I'm sure others would prefer to have it as well; but I'm sure theres reasons for this too, like to enjoy the game and stop being paranoid o_o

i wish i was a citizen

Sounds like a great idea, can't wait to see the future improvements.

Higbey 10-06-2011 12:59 AM

I really dont like the idea of people being able to use warps as soon as they join... Or at least restrict the platform to citizens

But other than that it's great and should help alot. Bit annoyed with begging and spamming guests but I guess they will learn.
