For all we know graal is the second longest running MMO of all time, next to Ultima Online, which released in the fall of 1997. Graal (zelda online) released later on as a beta in 1998.

It was a college/university project that was based on Zelda: a Link to the Past.
When the project started to lean towards being p2p (when Unixmad started to be involved) it had to change the name and graphics, due to being threatened with a lawsuit. |
I assume it was made with good intentions, even though the truth eludes me. Wasn't the first Zelda Online made on java?

While were on the topic... I'm looking for a history of classic (quests, story lines, etc) and I was hoping someone could help me out.
|
I think we're in Graal's Golden Age in terms of popularity right now. iOS revived Graal.
|
Yeah... But I still feel the dwindling of popularity was avoidable. It's not that hard to create a brand, especially when dealing with characters and storyline. The problem with graal is that the servers are mostly pk/tower related and there's nothing else to do. Creating a world filled with good characters would solve the issue, but I guess no one want to raise up Graal's standards.

The PC version of classic has questing. Original offline Graal The Adventure also had quests and a storyline.
The version of Graal The Adventure (Classic) that is hosted on Graal Reborn is from 2004 before NPC-servers was forced upon it which forced the server to start over from scratch and loose it's population to other servers. The 2004 version I believe is the most complete/popular version of it. (Atleast on PC) |
