Star Wars: Episode VII (2015)
Yes, this is not a joke. The Walt Disney Co. announced today that it’s agreed to acquire Lucasfilm for $4.05 billion, and word quickly followed that there are plans in place for not one but three new “Star Wars” movies, the first of which (Episode VII) will arrive in theaters in 2015. Lucas, however, will only serve as a “creative consultant” and will not write or direct. Although, he has already made partial scripts for episodes VII VIII and IX in the past, and there are several books outlining their stories.
What do you think about this? Even though a 10+ year gap exists between the last star wars movie and the new one are they milking it? Will they ruin it without Lucas at the helm? Or, due to his absence, make an improvement from the prequels? Considering Disney has acquired Pixar and Marvel already and these two have moved on to make many great movies, could they pull off a new Star Wars trilogy as well? Sound off in the comments. This is going to be an interesting next 3 years. |
I am very curious as to the future casting choices. Surely they are all too old now?

It would probably be the best choice to start with something completely new, since the end of the original trilogy wrapped things up pretty well. They wouldn't have anywhere to continue on from if they used the original stories, unless the partial scripts you mentioned somehow manage to do that.

Since they're running out of ideas, they decided to drag Star Wars into this. I don't think it will be the same without George Lucas directing and even if he announced it, I would not be happy. I don't think they should touch the story any further. The way it ended was fine.

Jedi Academy movies ftw D: never going to happen but it's a good dream. I wish they would make a KOTOR movie, the plot in those games is rich. As for these sequels, I'm glad. Hopefully the protagonist doesn't get in a motorcycle wreck half way through trilogy and look like he suffers from down syndrome for the remaining films.

Good thing SW has an expanded universe that is canon. There's a story that happens after episode VI. Han and Leia get married, Bobba Fett turns out to be alive. The Emperor is still "alive" also. And Leia has become a Jedi. Look up the graphic novel: Star Wars Dark Empire.

I think it could be good unless it is a cartoon which would ruin it. I assume they would try and set it a bit in the future but that's just a guess.

Like Shock said, at least they have more canon to draw from. There's more Skywalkers, y'know. There is one I'm particularly thinking about here but I can't remember her name...
|
What the hell will the plot be. Also its disney people. Odds are its going to be animated .__.
|
Nvm, can't find anything about the Skywalker I was thinking about. Mainly because I don't know her name... Darn. But still, the Skywalker family has more people in it.
|
I don't think I care that they're making new movies... As long as they get it right, and don't make like two more. They have to make three more. That's a nice number. Even though Disney is mostly princesses and such, I trust them to make them good. (I think)

Official News say its not animated and the next episode will be the last of Luke skywalker and a new saga will begin
