9/11 Should Not Be On Graal

People may rage me for this but honestly I don't care. 9/11 is a sensitive topic to most Americans today, and it really shouldn't be considered a "holiday" on a game where the playerbase A) Doesn't even remember the event (I am older than most and barely remember it) and B) Aren't mature enough to not try and troll and to take it seriously. Seriously I saw someone running around saying all muslims are, for the sake of quoting "b**** a** sandni***** that don't deserve to live, come blow up my house bro"

My other problem with this is how it was announced.
Quote from GraalOnline Era FB Page "The holiday shop has opened up :)"
This is not a holiday. It is a sad event. The smiley face made it worse too. People died for crying out loud.

Another problem is people have already complained that we celebrate the US events but never events from other countries. I am starting to agree with this. Not once have we celebrated or had a day or remembrance for another country other than Mexico's Cinco De Mayo (which is a bigger deal in america than mexico anyways) My point being it is unfair and it really isn't just to the people who live in other places or who's heritage is elsewhere. This further leads to the insensitive comments made by the playerbase who again, aren't mature enough to just simply put other people's feelings into account.

It is a nice gesture to try and have a day of remembrance, but I think we need to remember this is a game. Political views, Religion and all that grey area crap should stay out of it.

Agreed. And it doesn't help at all that all these noobs are running around saying "this is a proud day for muslims". The kids don't know what they are talking about. I think they should be jailed for racism...

I'd give rep but the damn thing won't let me

fsh 09-12-2012 12:01 AM

It shouldn't. Lol Higbey gave a smart ass comment (whats new) so I felt like I needed to delete.

Kids..

higbey can try and troll me, I'll summon NYN

Kane 09-12-2012 12:02 AM

Even I was one, of a few staff members, who had said that there shouldn't be anything celebrated tomorrow. x.x

and also "You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Jester Lapse again"

Sup3rn00b 09-12-2012 12:04 AM

I agree as well. especially in a game where people are running around killing each other.

Motrox 09-12-2012 12:05 AM

Your correct jester. I have seen a couple of players bashing on islam just because of this.

MrSimons 09-12-2012 12:06 AM

Why are the words "Holiday" and "Celebration" being used in accordance with 9/11? It isn't a ****ing holiday! It's the day America was attacked by terrorists. How about I kill your family, then 11 years later sell goods in celebration of their death. Jesus Christ, who even thought this would be a good idea.

Okay, at least some staff feel this way as well, and it isn't just me noticing this. I think this needs to be the last year this is "celebrated" on era. It really killed my good mood for the day how rude and cruel people can be to each other.

NCJohn 09-12-2012 12:18 AM

Could not agree more. I haven't had time to get on over the last few days to throw my 2 cents out to the team. I really do not think any sort of souvenirs should be sold (especially is they're just going to be used to scam later). The most appropriate thing we could and should have done was make an announce telling players to keep those who lost their lives that day in their hearts. I also find the whole holiday shop for it ridiculous. Like you said Jester, it is not a holiday; there are no celebrations it's a day of remembering those who died.

why are you saying this when i was the one that got hate for "bitching" about stuff being sold on iera for 9/11 last year and the fact it was brought into the game? i was the one saying these specific holidays or events shouldnt be dragged into the game, much less used to sell items!

Zero02 09-12-2012 12:29 AM

He actually did

fp4 09-12-2012 12:31 AM

The most appropriate thing they could of done was nothing, this is a game with a player base of mostly kids which means controversial dates/topics like 9/11 do not need to be addressed, celebrated, or remembered on Graal.

Pretty sure this happened last year, but the lack of common sense still runs rampant on the staff roster.

Chaotic 09-12-2012 12:31 AM

I agree.

Because if you are going to be a smart ass on a topic about this along with your "Support suicide, cure overpoppulation" stunt, you have lost all respect from me irregardless of what you say or do.

I do not blame staff for this. Not as a whole. As you can see 3 staff members just openly stated they agree with my view on this. I just wish that whoever thought this was a good idea would have thought it through a little more. It honestly looks like they are using this as an excuse to try to make us spend gralats.
