Never thought it would happen. It's been over six years since the last update.

I expected the release to be sometime soon because of the teasers he's posted but I never expected a Steam release. The "cubeworld will never release" can finally be put to rest.

I am interested to see how much has changed since the alpha. It does not look like much has changed visually.

Very hyped

Wow. Thats super cool. I remember seeing videos of it many years ago. Glad to see it will finally release.

The closed beta for original Alpha purchases starts on the 23rd! To get your steam key just check your My Games section on the picroma site.

Sadly I never bought the alpha due to the DDoS attacks but I've played countless hours through a friends account. I'm looking forward to buying it the second it releases. I've been watching BdoubleO100's old series on youtube and even started playing a bit of the alpha to get up to speed with things again.

Any thoughts? I haven't gotten around to playing it yet.

I've clocked about 25-30 hours in it by now. Using a friends account to play it since I couldn't wait for monday. Right now I think that it hasn't progressed past where it was in the alpha stage. There's probably less in the game right now but what it has in it is pretty fleshed out and works really well. There's a huge list on reddit of content which has been shown off or found in the games files which isn't present in the beta so some people are assuming the beta just has the bare minimum to test out how the game plays and if there are any major issues.

Here's the list of missing content which was shown off:

and here's what was found through datamining:

It is definitely really fun as is but it doesn't feel like 6 years worth of time was spent on it. I'm still having a blast and plan on buying the game the second it drops. If you read the complaints people have I would still check it out when it releases and if it isn't for you then just refund it. More updates have been confirmed so maybe it'd be best to wait a bit. Either way if what they said is true about the price being close to what it was for the alpha, it's definitely worth it and you will get your moneys worth from it.

I'm skeptical that it disappeared years ago off the face of the earth and suddenly reappeared out of no where with hardly any new content from the looks like it. Seems like a cash grab and it's possible there is either little intention to put much more effort into it or no none at all. Beta releases are already shady enough and this is a huge red flag imo.

I agree that there's some strange things about this but I'm just happy that I am able to actually purchase the game properly now and pay the developer of the game I had to pirate all those years ago. Also if anything modders will turn the game into what people have always wanted so I've got my hopes up for that. From ~40 hours of the beta I did have a lot of fun with what was there and stuff will (hopefully) get added until what he had in his mind is complete.

I agree with a lot of the hate he and his game is getting to some extent. This doesn't feel like he has spent a lot of time on it but if he keeps to his promise of more content updates and doesn't go into hiding again then I think it was a step in the right direction. Sure there's less to do now but it feels like a proper game which just needs more meat to its bones. Add proper quests, all the content shown over twitter these past 6 years and tweak what people currently have problems with and he'll have an amazing game. Early access would've probably been a better route for him seeing as it currently feels like an early access game still though.

At the end of the day I enjoyed myself during the beta and can't wait to play some multiplayer with people. If i hadn't played a pirated version for all those years and used a friends account to play the beta would've I spent $20 on this current version? Definitely not. But I don't think that means other people shouldn't try it out. Steam always offer refunds for games with under 2 hours of play time within 14 days of purchase so that is always an option if the game doesn't suit peoples taste.

I'm just saying people should follow it, and probably safer to wait for a more definitive release rather than paying now for a game he already bailed out of once before.

its not exactly like the alpha and theres a lot of things that wolay shouldnt have changed, like the regionlock, but Im glad its out at least. Its a lot of fun so far though and I hope he continues to work on stuff.
