The Way to Fix Zone
FOR THE PLAYERS
1. Everyone agrees to hop off of Zone for a solid 3-4 months. Go outside, hang out with a friend, call your Aunt who you haven't talked to in 7 years. 2. If you're emotionally attached to Zone and can't leave it for even a single day, think long and hard about if you're skilled enough to help develop for it. If so, get hired and make sure that you're working on quality content that will help improve the game.3. When coming back to Zone after your hiatus, the developers hopefully will have made some big changes that will better Zone. Be open minded and also, think about why you play Zone. The reasons why you play will help you to respond to the changes in a constructive manner. Don't be a d***. 4. Repeat. FOR THE DEVELOPERS 1. You are a team, realize that. If the case goes a little like this: The person(s) in charge are the ones calling all the shots, no 'if's, 'and's, or 'but's, then put pressure on them. Threaten to quit. You are most likely a volunteer, so you should have a say in what gets put into the game. More times than not, the things that a team comes up with together are MUCH, MUCH better than whatever the head honcho solely comes up with. Follow through! If it's clear that you can't change anything, then leave. Don't say you will and then stick around. That's just weak. 2. Set up a time to meet, discuss what problems YOU think Zone has, address the main issues that the PLAYERS have, and come up with SOLUTIONS for them. It's important that you get your priorities in check so that the most important things actually come to fruition. Graphics for gameplay > tileset > cosmetics 3. Hire people who are willing to put some real effort into the game. Fill them in on the team's gameplan and be open to their ideas too. This leads into the next point... 4. Remember that meeting that was held? Hold regularly scheduled meetings to make sure that everyone is on task, and if you or the new guy has a really good idea, see if it fits in with the current plan. If so, celebrate!5. Repeat. |
but there is only one dev and two coders lol.
(one one gani, and one levels so far but I think they are trying to hire for gani) (no sfx but thats not important atm or maybe never idk) (and of course there is a ton of gfx and zone patrol) It would probably help a lot if they got a couple more devs hired and maybe a coder. |

Necessarily they don’t have to do anything...as long as they have players playing and spending money on game unix can continue to run the server and have profit -even if alot less than he’s possibly making on the other servers.
Zone’s a lost cause that doesn’t need fixing as such-as it works even though it’s not that great in comparison toothers.. but it needs improving in all areas and management who can guide a team well and gets quality rather than hiring the next man. |

While working on a dev team, I noticed that there was no workflow management. I feel as if tools such as Jira were implemented, much more work would be accomplished.

We need to make the game fun. If it's fun to play, then people will stay to play it, and the player count will rise.
Right now, how it goes is that a noob will download the game, and then more than likely quit, because its either boring, they get confused, etc. If it's fun, people will play it more, get hooked, and become a active player. And thats what we need. Exposure. Because when we get exposure, we get more people that (hopefully) are skilled and sign up for admin, making zone a better game with better admins. Which in turn allows more content, which brings in new players, and the cycle repeats. That's what I see. Sorry if im wrong about any of this, its just how i see this all, and my proposal to a possible solution. TL;DR: Make the game fun so people dont quit. This could get zone more devs to work on the game, and make it more fun for the players. |
Tbh Era Zone and olwest are all like this because you get thrown in the game with crappy weapons and you can't get anywhere without some good player pelting you with bullets from an OP gun and the jobs have little payout so it takes forever to get better weapons unless someone just so happens to be generous enough to donate to you at the trade tables.

I think Zone has had a lot of new managers recently, so the best way to go is if they had a plan and the new manager would stick to the team's plan. Or promote a current dev to be the next manager. |
