How to make GraalOnline Zone suceed

Now, when Zone comes out, you can either make it or break it. With iEra, you released the paid version first instead of the free version. If you released the free version first, you would of gotten a lot more traffic, since iClassic averages about 1k people on and iEra about 600, they all would of wanted to try out the new server. But only about 1/4 of them pay, so that hurts the playercount by a lot for the new server. Plus, if it was free off the start, everyone would download it, and increasing the downloads of it may put it in the top 300, where lots of people would see it, and be potential customers in the long run.

tl;dr release free version of iZone first so more people download it off the start to put it in top 300 apps.

Yeah, much much more money would be earned in the long run if the game made it high in the app charts.

Plus there's nothing to say you can't make an ad on Classic and Era saying (Download (link) iZone today for free!)

Why not release em both at the same time, rather than stagger them? That way, we have the option ^^

You have a point, if there's a problem with releasing one, why not release both version at same time?

If both versions are released at the same time then they will be two seperate apps which most likely won't be able to reach the app charts.

Make one app, then in the menu of the app have a section for 'upgrading' for 2 dollars.

They're trying to bank on the fact that people will be so excited for the new server that they'll buy the paid version instead of waiting for a free version to see whether they like it or not. Considering Graal will probably not end up on the top app charts they should be making more money by milking the player base with access to their mommy's credit cards.

thats what i was thinking.
dont have a free or paid version. have a GraalOnline Zone.
when u open it theres all the free versions features, but u simply upgrade in one bundle to the paid version. that way the free app goes high in the charts, and u dont have the app downloads staggered from 2 dif apps
good idea street.

and actually u can have ads saying "download the new app! (link)" becuz like on battleonline u can have the somewhat login screen with ads on it. on that screen u could check news, check friends, go to the game, dif stuff. so if u wanted to go through the trouble, u could remake the title screens of classic and era so its like battle online.

um i remember era, classic AND battle online were all in the top 100 apps in the free section, but ive never seen them in paid section. yet i bought the full version of all three apps.

You do have a point. If Zone+ was released say 2 weeks after, they'd have more players willing to buy it, possibly leading to the paid version making it into the top 100, or at least the new and hot like Era+ did when it was released.

MattKan 12-23-2011 12:19 AM

If they were to release only a free version with in app purchases it would go even further up the charts.

0ddball 12-23-2011 12:26 AM

I will play iZone even if it suck. That's it.

I agree.

As much as I love your logical ideas that won't happen all they care about is the money and 'they' think they will get it if paid is released first

Xavier 12-24-2011 05:19 PM

Make one free iZone app, and have the customization pack for $0.99 in the Shop menu. Done.

Emera 12-24-2011 05:29 PM

In an ideal world, all this in-app purchase nonsense would be completely abolished and tiny things like customization should be free to all. I agree that the Gralat pack should be kept however.
