I'm skeptical that it disappeared years ago off the face of the earth and suddenly reappeared out of no where with hardly any new content from the looks like it. Seems like a cash grab and it's possible there is either little intention to put much more effort into it or no none at all. Beta releases are already shady enough and this is a huge red flag imo.

I agree that there's some strange things about this but I'm just happy that I am able to actually purchase the game properly now and pay the developer of the game I had to pirate all those years ago. Also if anything modders will turn the game into what people have always wanted so I've got my hopes up for that. From ~40 hours of the beta I did have a lot of fun with what was there and stuff will (hopefully) get added until what he had in his mind is complete.
I agree with a lot of the hate he and his game is getting to some extent. This doesn't feel like he has spent a lot of time on it but if he keeps to his promise of more content updates and doesn't go into hiding again then I think it was a step in the right direction. Sure there's less to do now but it feels like a proper game which just needs more meat to its bones. Add proper quests, all the content shown over twitter these past 6 years and tweak what people currently have problems with and he'll have an amazing game. Early access would've probably been a better route for him seeing as it currently feels like an early access game still though.
At the end of the day I enjoyed myself during the beta and can't wait to play some multiplayer with people. If i hadn't played a pirated version for all those years and used a friends account to play the beta would've I spent $20 on this current version? Definitely not. But I don't think that means other people shouldn't try it out. Steam always offer refunds for games with under 2 hours of play time within 14 days of purchase so that is always an option if the game doesn't suit peoples taste.
