Questions about rep
 

Simply, I have questions about how rep works. I have 3+ pages of reputation comments but 0 bars of rep. How much does it take per bar

there use to be some type of formula to it but now im pretty sure 1 rep is 1 point, which kinda sucks. also i THINK 1 bar is 100 points

you get more rep if you're repped by people with a lot of rep

Doesn't that mean that it'll take like 10 times longer for new users to get repbars compared to the older users?

Just how the veterans want it to be. that way they can look down at the newbies for much longer.

So you have to get 100 rep points to equal 1 rep?

I'm not 100 percent sure, but I think existing rep was changed to be based on the 1 point system.

Why not just reset everyone’s rep bars? The old system was manipulated by many Users and a clean slate is the best way to level the playing field

Is rep even like, useful for anything? Don't see why anyone would be so concerned with it

It just shows how cool you are. Us no rep pleb-ions are pushed off to the side of the jungle gym playing with matches and sticks.

But wouldn't that mean the people with no rep are more "deserving" of it since now it's techinally more work to earn it. compared to the older people who got their rep easily.

though in my unwanted opinion there's a few people with a lot of rep who actually deserve the rep they have.

i feel like much less reps are spreading lately.

i like how some of us are locked into having permanently higher rep than everyone because no one's willing to change a few numbers in a file lmao

Is the spread rep system still in place?, Because I feel like that gonna hinder the amount of rep given out severely in a now much smaller community. Im not particularly interested in earning rep myself but I do think it's a good approval system that needs to be altered to the new community size.

i still get rep and pretty much at the same speed as before, just worth a lot lot less

But thats sorta what I'm saying. To be rep'd 100 times by effectively a 100 different people is too harsh a slope to climp. If rep is supposed to show the reputation of someone then I should be able to rep someone as many times as I feel they deserve. There are other ways of preventing people from abusing the system.

I'd disagree with you on the distribution of rep being the same however. I find myself repping less frequently and tend to force myself to rep more posts than I feel warrant it, which isn't necessarily a good thing.
