This has been a dream of mine for years now, ever since playing "Pokemon Crater" in 4th grade. A Pokemon MMO, basically identical to a normal Pokemon game but with other people. It's easy to get set-up and I'm pretty sure it's legal because a ROM is required to play.

I think there is only a global and trade chat menu, theres no way to chat locally with text in game instead of in a chat menu yet. Hopefully thats added...

I remember when I was 8 I joined the Pokemon Crater forums, it was funny because everyone thought I was a troll because of my horrible grammar and overall immaturity xD. For some reason I never joined the game and randomly found out it shut down.

Anyways, I'm probably gonna try this out sometime soon, I've always loved pokemon and recently I've been playing mostly MMOS, so this will probably be great :D

This is a real complete Pokemon game unlike crater, though.

Crater was a sad ripoff in terms of gameplay, but the concept was pretty amazing. I'm glad to see that someone decided to go on and make a complete Pokemon MMO.

It uses Java, just use the same instructions as Linux, open a Mac Terminal, change the directory and run the file:

./pokemmo.sh

Making people supply the ROM themselves seems like a pretty cool way to get around distributing copyrighted assets.

You download the rom itself from a rom website.
Then move it to the roms folder in PokeMMO.
Btw, I need help, NCJohn, please, if you could visit me at the starting house and give me a quick tour, I'd be greatful.
