Cydia is not dowloaded directly. It is a sub download of downloads from places like

Whitesn0w
And greenpois0n. Google any of those
And get the UN teathered version. Teathered means that if your i device dies all your jaibreak stuff goes with it.
And it takes poking around in cydia to find what you want/need. Most people think you download and its just all there... No

Yes you have to jailbreak. It typically installs automatically with most of the current jailbreaks now-a-days.

just google redsn0w along with your current version of iOS, jailbreaking is essentially idiot proof

Assuming you're on a 4S (seeing as you have Siri), you'll need to go to a jailbreak called Absinthe. It's fairly easy and doesn't require any preparation.

Absinthe for iOS 5+. Make sure all your ipod/iphone data is on your computer (apps,music,videos etc). Then go to settings-general-reset-erase all content (this makes the jailbreak process a hell of a lot faster). Absinthe will give you instructions on what to do after.

IF ANYONE MAKES YOU PAY FOR A JAILBREAK DON'T IT'S A HUGE RIPOFF AND THERE ARE PLENTY OF OTHER OPTIONS!! If you get Cydia here is a few sources to start installing packages just go to Manage-Sources-Edit-Add-Then input one of these links.

Are you sure?

Pretty sure tethered means you hook up your device to your computer and jailbreak it from an application you downloaded. That's how I did it.

When Jailbreakme.com was there, that's un-tethered. (just press the slider and it jailbreaks from the internet.) (How cool is that?!)

that app was removed from the app store a while ago because of copyright reasons from the Display Recorders creator that created the Cydia Version.
