Jester Cap
http://i1102.photobucket.com/albums/...tercap_red.pnghttp://i1102.photobucket.com/albums/...cap_purple.pnghttp://i1102.photobucket.com/albums/...ercap_grey.pnghttp://i1102.photobucket.com/albums/...rcap_green.pnghttp://i1102.photobucket.com/albums/...ercap_gold.pnghttp://i1102.photobucket.com/albums/...ercap_cyan.pnghttp://i1102.photobucket.com/albums/...ercap_blue.pnghttp://i1102.photobucket.com/albums/...tercap_gnp.png
So i wanted to make a jester hat type deal and this is what I came up with, I made it into multiple colors so people would have a variety, do you guys like them? Also no one has the right to use these hats or give them to a server as their own, if you want to use one just forum message me why and I will say yes or no. I do not like thieves. Thank you |
Great work!
|
I like them! Adds a bit more of variety to the collection of Jester hats already made.
However, i do have a problem with one thing regarding the jester hat. The hat base's (the black) dithering/shading is dirty. You do have a light source and ill give you credit for that but the way its dithered is not clean. Also, you used too much of the darker color on the front view and on the back view, you left a few light spots on Optional critique but i still like them. Good job! :3 |

I agree with Bam on this one. Dithering is really not necessary since you have such a huge color limit.
Terrible edit because of, well, it's just an example of not dithering. http://www.4freeimagehost.com/uploads/e4bf2f43130f.png |

If you did notice it, then fix it with our suggestions. Your other problem I didn't mention is color choices.
You need to have contrasting colors. You should move away from gray scale and also use other colors for highlights rather than the same hue. That can sometimes help with the colors looking the same because you didn't shift the brightness enough. |

I myself do not like the face part though. Either get rid of it completely or design a new mask that covers the entire face, or maybe the top half and leave the mouth uncovered. The way you made the mask fits the defualt head perfectly but would look awkward on many other heads. |

Yes I see how this could raise a problem haha, I figured the masks that have already been made fit the default head and people still wear them regardless of their head, plus many heads have the same eye alignment as the default, but I do agree it could bring problems. Thank you |
Apparently you're a liar since after that comment you didn't fix the dithering and posted an edit. One would assume that would be where you could have removed the dithering and avoided the dithering problem.

Also, I didn't change it because I had to take care of my brother today seeing as my step mother is busy trying to find a job after being laid off. It it is so important to you I'll whip up an undethered one just for you ah, and don't call me a liar. Try to understand a situation before attacking someone over it |
This one was posted after Mai's suggestion as well as after your comment about avoiding it in the future. Notice how it's edited meaning you had the chance to remove the dithering before?
http://i1102.photobucket.com/albums/...e/tricolor.png Don't throw out excuse after excuse, or get snippy. I called you out on your bull**** because you felt the need to post a quote, which in the end was a lie, in response to my post. |

http://i1102.photobucket.com/albums/...e/forriley.png removed the dithering as was suggested removed the mask as was suggested, changed the color variety in the calls as suggested. currently working on colors in the cap itself. I do listen to all feedback and I do try to improve, but when you insult me, it doesn't help me nor does it make me want to change it FOR YOU, I do things on my time not yours because you don't know what I am going through. So kindly keep rude comments to yourself and provide feedback like i asked

You're full of excuses 'eh?

No excuse for all the excuses? How did me pointing out your lie, and over abundance of excuses boost my self esteem?
|
point out what? Sorry I have a life and can't do things for you on command. Sorry you like to assume things and can't think logically that it might me true. Sorry you didn't realize that i already am in the process of changing it for you and you can't even put down your petty self esteem to give feedback on it. Sorry you think you are so great. Sorry I am not worthy of your "good job" just leave me alone
|
Now who is dealing the personal attacks? The worse I called you was a liar (which you never disproved, but gave some bull**** excuse) while you basically call me an idiot claiming I can't think logically. :P
You almost make it sound like I'm bullying you. Poor ole' Jester. |
http://i1102.photobucket.com/albums/...se/changed.png made a few changes consisting of color all i will do for tonight as I have school tomorrow, leave comments and feedback and I'll get back to it when I can. Also I already know it is still a bit dark and will fix this at a later date
oh and riley, quit thinking you are greater than me and trying to belittle me. I am not like the other kids you pick on for ****s and giggles and I take my ability and my improving process seriously. Stop trying to tick me off and annoy me because it will hinder me from this process. I will not "rage quit" for your amusement and will always try. So get off your high horse. And yes i am calling you an idiot because you can't be mature enough to move on. Don't like what I post? Ignore it and move on bud, last i checked this is my thread. |

oh and you are the one who started with disrespect by calling me a liar, which I wasn't so that is an invalid argument. |

(Actually you showed me disrespect first with the quote response, but you probably missed that entirely.) |

I'll see you later, guaranteed. I look forward to your insults and excuses. |
I only have three minor issues.
1) I don't like the color choices. Jesters are funny, which would mean using brighter, more fun color choices. What you have now makes it look evil, which is probably what you want anyways. 2) The mask doesn't accomodate as many heads as it should. True, there are a lot of masks out there that are set to the default head, and people wear them anyways. But we should try to stray away from that...more and more people are getting custom heads now. It wasn't a big issue before because a lot of people were limited to heads that were based off the default. But iEra has changed, and the hats need to change with it. 3) The dithering makes it look dirty/grimy (which was already stated/fixed). But maybe that's what you want your hat to look like, idk. That's not my main issue with the shading. My main issue is this part right here... http://img692.imageshack.us/img692/6...stercapred.png By roakrok at 2012-05-29 Why would the upper part be lighter than the part below it, which is darker than the part below that? I'm really confused on where your light source is coming from. Not just on this sprite, but on a few of them. |
looks good

If you ever want to improve upon making pixel art, the only feedback which will help you (on this forum) is Riley's. He's the only active poster who knows exactly how to help you. If you don't want to listen to him, try joining PixelJoint. Post your pixel art in the wip and the feedback will be very helpful. You can't just listen to the "OmG AmAzInG111!!" comments, nothing you make is finished; there's always something that could be improved. Thanks. |

I have never done that. If you look at previous threads and even here, I take criticism and say thank you and learn from it. He just wishes to be rude and I'm not going to listen to someone who thinks they are above everyone. Period |
the original looked better than this one imo.
