Age of Empires Online
 

Hmm, I stumbled upon a new game called Age of Empires Online that I haven't played before...

I'm a fan of the series, so I downloaded it (it's free), and it's actually pretty fun! I recommend trying it out.

I haven't gotten very far into the game, just a few tutorials, haven't really reached the online part, though I have seen a few pop ups asking me if I wanted to team up with a buddy...

Good first impression, will post more when I get further into the game. :P

Played it for 5 minutes and then quit. RIP AOE.

Occasionally I play AoE 2 with Graal people (Crono, Door, Luda, Oni, etc) and there's always connection issues. I was looking forward to AoE Online because it has great graphics, but I tried it when it came out and it's just not the same :(

I wish they'd taken the gameplay from AoE 2 and ported it with modern graphics, but this AoE Online is totally different from what I'm used to. Maybe I'll try it out another day.

Yeah I played it a little farther but it wasn't very good.

Rufus, do you have AOE3?

I have AoE2, so if you don't I can reinstall that...

(And the whole idea of playing with Door sounds thrilling to say the least ROFL)

Personally think AOEROR was the best of the series...even if it's outdated.

I've only played 2 and 3, but I think 2 is better, minus the graphics

I was thinking about playing it but the f2p model, the cartoonish graphics, and the medieval setting made me decide not to.

I used to play AOE2 when I was younger and picked it up recently to find that the disk was scratched, so sad, I'm left with AOE3 which is fun but I don't think it's as good as AOE2. Also, I'll play with you sometime Matt.

Just tried it, it was dissapointing. I got to like level 3 and I realised that the game is split into like 15 realms and that makes the community so small. Also, there's a bunch of weird security things not letting me do anything.

Next weekend let's start a game online, either AOE 2 or AOE 3, any suggestions for which game and the time?

I don't have aoe 2, so I prefer aoe3, I'll play the original or any of the expansions.

So who wants to participate? (list whether you have 2 or 3)

Or if you have AOEROR but I'm guessing I'm gonna be alone on that one...

I've only found a few games of this type to be fun, but at one point I just rage quit.

seriously, AOE2 was the best part. They should do a remake, same game, just better graphics- i would buy it 10 times

Good luck with that, honestly. It is a total pain in the ass to set up and if there's any lag in a game (which there will be, most likely in every game) it becomes unplayable. When someone goes out of sync with the others (which also seems to happen in every game) it also becomes unplayable. If these issues didn't exist I'd play it non stop.
