I have the game and it sucks, we are stuck in 1.6.6, no mods, no anything.
|
The game had to be recoded from scratch. And I mean absolutely recoded. Minecraft is made in Java and of course, Java doesn't run Xbox. So the game had to be recoded to XNA. Not to mention currently Minecraft uses a seperate server/client foundation which wouldn't work with the Xbox. So the multiplayer aspect had to be completely reinvisioned and streamlined. Not to mention various other changes such as fixing the interface to better work with a controller and so on. Such a gap between the two versions was to be expected. The fact that they got as far as 1.6.6 is amazing, imo. Look at the mobile version, it's still stuck with pretty much ONLY creative mode... and the Android OS RUNS JAVA.

You need an HDTV in order to do splitscreen (wtf). Or you need to buy an HDMI Cable. I personally think that is the stupidest idea ever since you can already play it by yourself.
|
Not really, it's for your own good. Without HD you're working with a resolution of 480 AT BEST. Split that and you're only working with 240 resolution. That would look horrible, and you probably wouldn't be able to properly see beyond five blocks in the distance.

However, it just "feels" nicer that playing on the PC.

:) Ah, good ol' console gaming. Always feels better.

Also, Notch announced that it is going to be Xbox360 only, no PSN involved. However, I can't quite remember where I've seen this statement.

This was announced when it was first announced, he signed a contract with Microsoft.

or lack of multiplayer (A scam),
|
What? It DOES feature multiplayer, either 4 player splitscreen(isn't their problem you don't have an HDTV or 8 player online. It can't manage the multiplayer structure the PC version has because Xboxes can't handle that sort of workload. I also don't see how it's a scam as the multiplayer modes(1-8 players) were advertised.

Small Map (Limited Gameplay),
|
This does suck regardless. I hated it on the mobile system, too. I wish they could figure out a way to work it out. The problem again is that the 360's hardware probably just couldn't do all the crunching involved in generating chunks on the fly. Not to mention that world sizes can get quite large(they probably don't want people filling up their HDD's. Even a casually explored world can hit a few GBs.)

No mods will ever be on it (Announced by Notch),
|
Not surprising. Not even PC has actual mods, they're just "hacks" and not officially supported in any way.

No PSN (Fail),

Chances are Microsoft approached them with the contract. Exclusive titles are nothing new.

Only 8 players per server (Huh?),

I addressed this above.
I don't have the game, but these problems seem pretty obvious. Most of them are outside of anyones current control, and I feel people should let up. Now the mobile version of Minecraft SUCKS ASS. I wouldn't suggest it even for $6. It is WAY more behind than the 360 version, and the controls suck ass and the world is insanely small. The fact that this version was completely redone by scratch in insanely small portion of time compared to how long Minecraft was(and still is) in development I find amazing. Perhaps they will catch up and Minecraft itself will port over to the code base of the 360 version and we can finally move away from ****ing Java.
This version may be lacking compared to the PC version, but it will probably catch up soon enough(way before the mobile version ever does :P) and it's a GREAT way to expose Minecraft to an entirely different playerbase. There is an entirely different group of people out there who play consoles exclusively and never touched a game on the PC, so they'd probably never play Minecraft if it weren't for this version. Also this is a great way to get family/friends involved too without overwhelming them.
