So I want to get Tera Online

I really hope to get Tera Online, it came out on the first of May. The problem is that it is rated M and my parents are incredibly strict.(you can laugh at me XD) I'm only 15(16 in a month) and my parents refuse to let me play m rated games even though I act mature and explained to them that m rated games aren't as bad as r rated films and that the ratings only exist so parents don't sue companies for kids being exposed to inappropriate content.

Anyways, I can't convince my parents, nothing works. I'm trying to think of a way to get them to buy the game and subscription. I managed to get tf2 by using steam wallet, they couldn't see what I used it for. I'm thinking I'll edit the billing site's html to change the m rated icon to he T one or remove the image. Anyone have any suggestions?

Another idea is getting one of those prepaid credit cards to buy the game and subscription

tell your parents M is 15+ and it is not bad at all tell them to read the tag where it says the rating it will say like mild violence and mild coarse language or something.Someone of your age should be able to play a video game with ewhatever it has on the tag.

lol that guy necroed it xD anyways I already got it a while back.

Dont waste your time and money for Tera. Buy Guild Wars 2 instead when it comes out.

Skill 07-16-2012 11:11 PM

gw2 blows. The combat is boring as hell... you just faceroll the keyboard and win. you don't even need to aim, it auto targets.

NiTe 07-16-2012 11:44 PM

LMAO! u got it all wrong, GW2 has ACTIVE combat and no auto attack.

Well I'm gonna say Tera and Nite will say GW2. If you want action combat where you have to aim and think when you play, choose Tera. If you like combat that is a bit easier and requires less reflexes and all that, choose GW2.

Also in Tera you can purchase subscriptions from other players in game through an item called a chronoscroll through the auction hall, it usually takes about one hour to get enough gold for a month of subscription, the rate is really good. GW2 has no subscriptions

Tera just has graphics and combat. When guild wars 2 has both and a actual rich story line for the players to enjoy, with an amazing dynamic event system. offers brand new mechanics and experience to mmos.
But its up to you, if you want combat and good graphics and wanna pay monthly, go for tera. But if you wanna experience all of that, no monthly fees, with a story line and a PvE environment that is built for the players and is revolved around the person that is playing the game, go for Gw2. Basically if you want a fresh new mmo, not the same old grinding ***. Just some reasons to be interested http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xBC_ig73aMs(video over a year old)

Tera is another Korean grindfest. The whole aiming system is really gimmicky too. Guild wars 2 is going to be way better.

NiTe 07-17-2012 10:01 PM

Tera even faced lawsuits for stealing codes related to Linage 3 from NCSoft, who also is the publisher of Guild Wars 2.

tera 2 isn't grindy at all. I literally eached level 30 in 2 days without no lifeing. you can also gain one or 2 levels a day at high levels, just by questing. not hard. GW2 on the other hand gets really grindy at high levels.

Tera's story is quite fascinating, its one of the few stories I've actually paid attention to, usually when I play games I skip the story. Additionally, you don't have to pay monthly fees as you can earn a month's subscription in game with ~1 hour of playing

As someone who played beta I can tell you that gw2 basically has no grinding what so ever, if so the least amount in any mmo. Theirs multiple ways to gain experience. You dont even have to do the story line or quest to reach max level, you can just pvp. And not having a traditional quest system like in every other mmo, the dynamic events system get rid of grinding, because it doesnt have the traditional "kill 10 of this" "collect 20 of this".
Only mmo built for players and what they find joyful.

Sounds kind of lame, games that just give everything to you never last long. After a while everyone is going to get bored of the game and complain that there's nothing to do. Will probably be fun for a few days then you hit max level and get bored doing the same content.

That makes no sense.
Gw2 is seen as having no endgame to it. If anything like the first gw, the game gets better, amazing and more fun when you reach max level. Cant see anyone getting bored.

Yeah, I guess it would be kind of like console games, amazing content, but it ends at some point. I'll probably get it anyways since its only a one time fee, but even after watching that 10 reasons video i don't seem that interested.

I see the combat breaks free of roles and is a little less than facerolling the keyboard, but it still isn't anything thats never been done before. Dynamic events/storyline have existed in several other MMOS as well.

I do have to agree with the music thing though, music is probably the most involving aesthetic a game can have. Forsaken World had generic gameplay and awful graphics, but the music was astonishing and drew you into the game.

The world pvp isn't original either.

While nothing may be original, they combined several uncommon features of MMOS into one and tried to make a high quality one. I'm still not a fan of auto aiming combat, it often feels repetitive. But many people struggle with aiming and al that so I assume they tried to aim for the general MMo population.

the video was made over a year ago. its outdated imo and alot of betters reasons to be interested has come about.

Dynamic events were in games like Rift yes, but they didnt really seem to have ripple effects like Gw2 has. Each event can give you a different experience when doing it and the outcome can change based on how well you perform it. And of course it has a scale, the more players participating, the more harder it would be. The more you contribute, the better the reward. Events also can chain with over events.

The world PvP isnt just PvP. You arnt just capturing points on the map and controlling towers, using supply to bring other players down. I look at it to be PvPvE. It has dynamic events built into the the WvWvW maps. It has a good amount of mixed PvP and PvE. Which makes the world feel more alive.

The pvp is without a doubt some of the best PVP I've seen. Sounds like the kind of pvp sevenswords on the iPod had, where you had to gather resources and build defenses to help your team. had support for like 60vs 60 but the game is dead so it never happens.

Dynamic events is in a lot of games, but I'm sure GW2 implemented it well.

I'm pretty sure it will be a great game, but I think its overhyped and given too much credit. Diablo 3 had an insane amount of hype, and everyone hated me for saying its not gonna turn out that great, then it came out and everyone raged at Blizzard about how bad it was.

Bandit 07-18-2012 02:25 AM

I still hate the fact your PvE level doesn't stay the same in PvP. Everyone is the same level in GW2 PvP. Basiy the time you use questing and such doesnt play into affect.

There are downs and ups to this. While it would promote more fair of gameplay, it removes the satisfaction of making progress. GW2 seems to have no real way of progressing.

also this thread seems to be a bit derailed, why don't we discuss it in NITEs gw2 thread?

-Albus 07-18-2012 02:36 AM

The level scaling in GW2 puts everyone on an equal level, so someone new to the game isn't at a huge disadvantage when trying out PvP. That's one of the problems with the current MMOs out there now. If you just hit max level and want to do PvP, you basically have no chance at all. Structured PvP fixes this. If you don't like that, you can do the WvWvW, which even though everyone in the same level, not everyone has the same gear.

In WvWvW just because everyone is level 80 doesnt mean that its balanced. Your level actually does matter because the higher level you are. The better armor upgrades one can have, more runes and insagas and etc added, better inscription to weapons. For an example the more slot skills you have, and more trait and skill point you have obtained. Like the higher the level, better slot skills u can use and u can get elite skills at level 30. And the people who have obtained things such as more trait points in the fire category if you are an elementalist it would increase the amount of fire damage one does. So basically you have a minimum stander in WvWvW, but you can get more powerful. just a brief example

That is true not everyone will have the same gear, attributes, traits.
Like if a level 1 would enter WvW, he would be missing all the slot skills and would have no elite skills if a lvl 30 would eneter.

You're obviously talking out of your ass since higher level GW2 contrt hasn't been released yet. GW2 is not grindy, in the beta I never stood around killing enemies to level, instead I would be part of events or play the individual story (Which is very good).

Explain to them which each rating means within the M rating.
  • Blood: Pretty self explanatory, just means that there will be some blood. Note: no gore specified.
  • Suggestive Themes: This isn't really to worry about an MMO. Most likely just means some male or female characters with a little bit of cleavage or a lower area showing. Not even noted, mostly.
  • Violence: Can be put on most any game, no need to fret over this.

See, most of the reason parents don't let minors play games that are of the mature rating is because of extremely inappropriate ratings; eg: Nudity or Strong Language.

It kinda gets boring after a while, not as good as I had hoped. The dynamic events just follow like 3 templates like defending and escorting(which is in like every MMO) and just have different monsters/areas.

Honestly its fun for a few days but it gets boring and the combat puts me to sleep.

queues to get into wvw are several hours long even in the middle of the night >_>
