Nintendo 3DS
Anyone have it? Is it good? I wasn't a fan of the whole concept of it, but I was thinking of buying it solely on the fact that there are some beast games for it.
|
Who cares if it does 3D? Get it because it's a Nintendo handheld and you can hardly go wrong with that. Anyone giving it crap because of the 3D gimmick fails to realize that it's way more powerful than the DS, and even without the 3D feature it would have been a worthy successor. It's all about the games, don't get it unless you see a game you want on it.
|
I agree with Dusty. The 3D does add a nice touch to the games, but does not change gameplay. (OoT3d looks amazing with 3D visuals, fyi)
Honestly, I would wait to get one until after Nintendo's conference next week...i'm waiting to see if they are coming out with a redesigned model, or just adding the circle pad peripheral for games. And if they are adding a peripheral, is it just for Monster Hunter 3G or are we expected to buy it for use in multiple games....If they come out with a remodel, I will be upset...I'll be upset if the slider peripheral is used for more than Monster Hunter as well. I don't really want to pay for Nintendo's design mistakes. (Which is what this would be) I think the 3DS is an amazing machine anyways, and doesn't really need a second slider pad, but...w/e. |
Nintendo needs a new console
|
this 3d is fake 3d. The 3d is all blury and hurts your eyes if you put the 3d mode all the way up. if you look at the screen and focus at something else, you will have blurry vision for 30 seconds. i dont recomend it. It has a lack of quality on 3D and may damage your eyes. by the way, It has hd quality on 2d mode

oh anyways about the system My little brother bought one and several games, and I tried them. I had to say they were severely disappointing. For a 2011 system costing $250 and has a sole purpose of games, its graphics are terrible. my 4th generation iPod touch has better graphics and it is much smaller, cheaper, games are cheap and much more fun, and does much more than games. As for the gameplay, the current games don't seem to offer much of it, and are more arcadeish(most early games on nintendo systems are this way). The "eshop" contains overpriced apps and games that hardly have any content. A bunch of simple clocks with skins cost $2. very basic games like bricks cost $5. simple 2d platformers cost $10+. my advice would be not to get one unless you are a huge nintendo games fan, because nintendo refuses to make games for any platforms except their own. |

Well there is one drawback: All of its 3DS titles that aren't made by nintendo completely suck... And thats a fact... Well except for about one or two... But thats about it
|
With the exeption of zelda.. Most nintendo games suck now days
They kinda drove mario into the ground |
Nintendo doesn't even put much effort into most of their games these days, and they charge a lot for them too.
By this I mean they release many games with hardly any content and rushed graphics, with a large price tag. Why do they do this? They do it because kids will buy anything from Nintendo that comes out, because they want to collect them all and they don't understand money yet(my brother does this, he tries to buy every 3ds game he can get, he immediately spends his money on a nintendo game and never saves it.) They do occasionally make a high quality game, which sells a lot. Oh, and they don't let small companies make games for their systems, even on their electronic download shop. They think they can't make quality games. This is completely ironic, because I see a bunch of useless $2 apps on their store. I've seen indie developers with less than 10 devs make games that have generates millions of dollars of revenue on the iPhone app store. Graal was made by like one guy(stefan) and a bunch of volunteers, and it is one of the top mmos on the iphone app store. |

You seem to be just talking out of your ass so I'm just going to ignore the rest of what you had to say. |
I kinda agree that Nintendo isn't putting much effort into their games, but they are cheap!!!
|
Where is this "Nintendo doesn't put effort into their games" coming from?
Nintendo games are some of the best games. o.O Unless by "Nintendo" games you mean "any game that comes out on a Nintendo system", then you just have absolutely no clue what you're talking about... Actual Nintendo games are quality games, with amazing gameplay. Shovelware games that are on Nintendo consoles are complete crap...but that's why you don't buy shovelware. Plain as that. However, the 3DS has some good 3rd party games coming out...two new monster hunter games, some cool crap from capcom coming, level-5. Its not fair to say Nintendo has crap games because the developers who make games for their systems dont put effort into them. I can find you some crap 360 games, and some really bad PS3 games if you would like. But just because I find some really bad games on their systems does not mean "Microsoft makes crappy games". (If they did make games, i'm sure they would be crap anyways) |

WHERE?!?! TELL ME NOW!!! *shoots* |
I saw a kid sitting in the dentists office the other day, playing a 3DS.
I heard the noises from it and I asked him,"Ocarina of Time?" The kid nodded, and smiled. I told him,"You know, I remember when that game first came out for the Nintendo 64." He looked at me and asked,"What's a Nintendo 64?" Not only did I feel old, but I also almost cried. |

you guys don't understand what I mean by effort. The stories of their games are poorly written, the gameplays are broken, and the graphics are low quality with many errors.
People just think games from major developers are the best of their type because they haven't heard of better ones from smaller developers because they don't have the insane amount of money to mass advertise their games. You may think a game made by 3000 devs is better than one made with 20, but in reality it is just that larger companies put more games out faster. I small company might spend a year working on a single game while another makes 30 in one year. |

Would you like to slip one of these on your face to catch all the **** you're spewing out? http://blogs.alice1059.com/files/2010/04/diaper.jpg Also, Nintendo games are far and few between, at least the ones anyone cares about. Zelda games tend to have a 5+ year gap between the next, and the games will be scrapped and started over no matter how far the progress is if Miyamoto doesn't like the game. Sure, they might milk the franchise for their titles, but the actual games are hardly milked. As long as there are games like CoD or any sports game pushing out a new title every year at full price with minimal change(not to mention the DLC at $15 a pop for a few levels), Nintendo is the least of anyones worries about rushing titles. |
Quote:
Who plays game for their stories?!?!? If you want stories, go read a book kid e.e |
Miyamoto himself has said he does not care about story in his games...he said he wishes players would ignore the story.
The gameplay in Nintendo games are probably the best in the business...besides a few gems between the piles of generic FPS and crappy platformers and racing games. I can probably assume Skill's favorite game is Black Ops or Modern Warfare, or any of the other 16 COD games. |

yea the 3D hurts your eyes a little

Yeah, unless your watching it cross eye while wearing 3D Glasses.

I dont really like the handheld nintendo consoles tbh, but the game Kid Icarus uprising really does excite me though the fact i've been waiting forever for this to come out and its coming out on nintendo 3DS, nintendo games arn't so bad really im just in the classic games i.e zelda games, mario, kid icarus, etc

As it has been said before, the 3D strains your eyes. One of my friends which played on a 3DS for only 2 hours had a headache because of how much it strains your eyes, personally i would advise not to get one, it seems like it isnt very good for your health at all.
Surely the games would be out for the normal DS? |

Defeats the object of the device then though, you may aswell buy a normal DS.

There still is the fact that the 3DS costs considerably more than the standard DS, would you spend one hundred-ish more for the graphics of a console which has been around for a decade? as opposed to the standard DS which is dirt cheap nowadays.
|
Quote:
Also, they're handhelds, their graphics will always fall behind consoles so that's a poor comparison. It's especially funny since you're defending the price of the original DS which had graphics of the N64(sort of worse, tbh). |
