The afk mask is nice

LordBryson 02-20-2012 06:46 AM

Kk thanks ill touch up the helmet. I might change the top hat too but not now.

BroozeB 02-20-2012 04:17 PM

Seems like you're doing huge shapes and trying to shade them with the gradient tool. Focus on doing more pixel-pixel work rather than just drawing a huge vague shape and calling it a ninja helmet. You did this more with the AFK mask but it lacks texture and shading near vital areas.
I have never liked hats similar to Chillax Combo and therefore I have nothing to say about it, but the Top Hat is nice.

MrSimons 02-20-2012 05:03 PM

They are all nice except the ninja helmet, the shading is honestly awful... other than that they all are ok...

Maikeru 02-20-2012 05:19 PM

I don't mind the shape of the hats but you need to improve the shading by a whole lot. never use gradient as a shading tool unless you're going to pixelate/dither/edit those colors correctly

Cigam 02-21-2012 12:35 AM

Kk thanks for the feedback guys, ill hopfully touch them up correctly to fit all you're likes ;)

Hermes* 02-21-2012 03:43 PM

good but i think they need some shading ;)

I dont like the yellow dots Dx mabye try more dark colours for a ninja mask, notice my ninja head in my status and the body are dark colours, black, charcoal, grey and dark blue, instead of fluro green with some yellow

Cigam 02-22-2012 12:26 PM

Kk thanks i'll touch it up again xD

Dithering isn't the only method to add texture and such..

How is that a shading technique? Here's a tutorial which will help you:

[tutorial removed to save space]

I couldn't follow that if I tried. I've never been good with shading, and never will. I don't really have the patience to shade pixel by pixel by pixel.

It's a nice guide though, and it should help a lot of people who give it enough time.

Cigam 03-03-2012 03:28 PM

Thanks Bam...

Emera 03-03-2012 03:31 PM

It's a good start, you just need to keep at it, and follow what's been said above about shading and such. +rep though <3

The sword looks like its made of jello or some floppy substance, you need to define its shape more and make in look like you could kill someone with it. Also the hadles shading looks kinda nasty and needs to be touched up.

Lower the front sight a bit, and shorten the distance between the handle and trigger. Other than those small peeves I have it with it, it's pretty nice so good job mate.

Thanks.

EDIT: In the signature box, on the gun template. Where i'm putting my far hand isnt actually supposed to go there. It's supposed to go on the trigger which is foward of the handle. Sorry if this caused any confusion. I honestly don't know why I placed the hand there... And I put the hand where the clip is supposed to be.. my god what the hell is wrong with me.

RileyFiery 03-31-2012 09:07 PM

What you just said caused me a great deal of confusion. Are you saying that you have one hand on the handle, and one on the trigger? I don't think you should go with that design because it doesn't make sense.

Move the trigger next to the handle (look in Saiga thread for examples) so the hand on the handle can pull the trigger. Then the spot where the trigger was you could place your other hand to hold the weapon.

Love the alien hat. I'd definitely buy/wear it as is. Your sword needs a better outline, and more shading. And Riley covered the gun already :)

Thanks. And about your Alien Hat comment: I might give it to iEra or iClassic to put in a shop if they feel like it but i'm not sure.

SkyLapse 04-06-2012 04:43 PM

it looks really sketchy with bad shading and a trigger to far up and a ******ed front sight. EDIT IT!

Well done, these pieces of work show that you have imagination and are creative. But as Brooze harshly stated, they need texture and detailed shading for effect. Your ideas deserve a polished look.

Clear enough :)

Cannon: The shading isn't showing the image's shape that well. It feels flat to me. (Assuming it's a cylindrical shape.)
http://www.graalians.com/forums/atta...1&d=1334020661

Tomato: It doesn't feel like a tomato. Try to darken the bright shade and possibly give the perfect circle some defects.

Ok thanks. Since your suggesting to touch up pretty much everything, it's gonna be a little hard to edit. Might just make a new launcher or make a new version. Thanks for the feedback and tips though!

Zerith 04-10-2012 02:54 AM

First of all, color choices need a little work. Shading style, even though your dithering, your pillow shading throws off the depth/shape of the object. I think this is due to the fact that your using each shade of red equally, theres just as much light pink as there is dark red. why is that bad? because it doesnt tell people what the REAL color of the object is. If all of the shading was the same length, then what color is the actual color of the object. you must determine WHAT shade of red is your BASE. THEN you darken what areas might need some shade and you lighten the small areas where light will hit the object.
