Christmas Submissions 2018
 

Hello everybody! It's that time of the year again where we invite all of you to participate in our player-submitted graphics competition!

The present categories will remain the same as previous years:
Cute, Smart, Tough, and Cool.

All content (mainly hats) will need to generally match these categories and you don't need to make your graphics Christmas themed. Any work you submit must be made solely by you, meaning no edits of existing content.

To clarify any confusion, similarly to the Halloween submission contest, we will not be accepting accessories this year.

Any graphics made between two or more people as a collaboration can only gain the rewards on a singular account.

All players whose submissions are accepted will receive a reward of either 10,000 Gralats (for more complex items i.e hats, mounts, etc.) or 5,000 (for simpler items i.e bouncy balls, pogos, etc.) or the submission(s) added to their account.

If you're interested in submitting content for our Christmas event, then upload it to an image hosting website (such as Imgur.com) and email the links to [email protected]. Title the email "Christmas Submission" and include your preference of reward, as well as your Graal ID (found in the feedback menu in-game).

The deadline for all submissions is December 24th.

thoughts? not done yet. samurai type rice hat with the yin yang HP embedded up top

its on my ingame character bcs i copy pasted to see what it would look like

Well for starters I see

• banding
• jagged outline (especially in the shading and the side outlines)
• a square yin yang
• a really skinny band wrapping around the hat

Can't see too well, but also looks pillow shaded which isn't classic's style.

thank you for the tips :D +rep. I definitely need to work on the band and HP icon but i dont think i did too bad w the purple part, ill try to add AA around the color fades.

One question tho, i can apply AA to areas outside of the actual hat? for example the edges outside of the hats border to help smoothen it. I was under the impression it would add unwanted white pixels ingame

It obviously would have to fade from bright in the light source (front) to a darker side area to illustrate the curve

Noooo don't do that. If you can tell by a lot of people's submissions/work in the game you can see that no one uses AA outside of the actual hat. I'm pretty sure the only time white pixels would be unintentionally added in game is if you forget to delete the background that comes with the template.

The way you shaded it makes it look like the light source is coming from the bottom lol

I think you should shade as if the light source is above your head, not only is it one of the easiest ways to shade imo, but I'm pretty sure a majority of graphics done in game uses a light source above the item itself.

The way you shaded it makes it look like a folded piece of paper (might just be me lol) lighting at the top to show its thin and as you see in game many masks have lighting on top

The submissions that are accepted get put into presents, which have four categories: cool, tough, cute, and smart.

When you receive actual Christmas presents, you don't only receive Christmas-related things, do you?

well some hats that look "trash" are accepted, i saw some hats that has no shading at all

Just because you cant do something doesn't mean you cant criticise someone else for being bad at it.

People think many atheletes, such as football players, are bad but that doesn't mean the person who says they are bad is any better.

Well I don't really play Classic, so I wasn't aware that they were Christmas PRESENTS.. if that's the case, shouldn't the thread be labeled "Christmas Present Submissions 2018"? I figure the thread was just for Christmas-only related submissions that would be sold at Satan's workshop or something of the sort.

By what I have seen so far, people have been using this platform to criticize and trash talk others graphics. So I agree with what Adrian said. I wouldn't mind if it was constructive criticism, but it isn't. Why not help players with actual advice instead of discouraging them.

Right, so because this happens every year, that excuses the lack of an accurately contextual thread title? If anything, the fact that it happens every year is more of a reason to correct it, "dumb dumb".

Looking forward to this years submission and potentially a rage thread per usual.
